This is the gigantic red horsepill which conservatives can't swallow. It's not out of the ordinary at all. Yeah, it's the first presidential conviction. But there's a whole list of shit that never happened before just since 2016. You might call it a pattern.

Shit changes and people are slow to adjust. Institutions which conservatives [decreasingly] revere are plainly corrupt. The justice system, including law enforcement (yes, with exceptions that prove the rule) and the military are at the top of the list. It's way past time to stop being surprised. They serve a purpose different than the one you've been told they serve.

Imo we're living through an accelerating phase of a very long creeping coup d' etat which started with the shots that killed Kennedy. Not that the place was a constitutionalist's paradise with Wilson or Lincoln or even under Hamilton's Treasury. But I classify Kennedy to now as the reign of the security state.

The Demoncrats had to stitch together a dozen murky misdemeanours (that, if valid, which they weren’t, had elapsed in actionable statutes, so the state “overturned” these laws, but just until the indictments were filed, and then the state reinstated said laws) and then rig the entire proceedings to “get him”.
