I always thought psychopaths aren’t aware what they are doing is wrong? Where as sociopaths are fully aware what they are doing is wrong and do not have any remorse or empathy.
Various definitions and criteria seem to abound, from born-with-it vs. environment, degree of lack of empathy, controlled vs impulsive etc: im no expert in this area by any means just layman's interest
With Bundy on the 'awareness' question it would still be something of a dilemma:
On the one hand, clearly he knew what he was doing was wrong by covering his tracks, and more tellingly his jailhouse call confession to his long-term girlfriend that he knew he was sick and there something wrong with him that he had tried to contain, but couldnt suppress despite trying to fight it
On the other hand, he appeared to relish the attention of the trials, and also you have quotes like his seemingly oblivious "I mean there are so many people. It shouldn't be a problem. What's one less person on the face of the Earth, anyway?"
