Part of me can see the whole “you’re just defending law and not the client”, but there is a point much like this one, that it becomes untenable. Child molesters, animal abusers, elder anbusers and pieces of shit like this lady should be lynched.

Actually I do kind of get it.

The defense attorney's job is to make sure the prosecutors do Their job.  In other words, make an ironclad, leakproof case that the accused is in fact guilty. Otherwise, if you have weak defense attorney, you could very well send an innocent person to jail or death.  Think of it that way. On the other hand, If a jury finds someone who is obviously guilty, innocent, it's because the prosecutors did a piss poor job of presenting their case.
