Well I have not purchased a new house yet. I have a contract I can break.  I may just buy a log cabin on 20 acres in the woods. Or I may get a downtown condo. I guess I will see how I feel when the time comes. I could just travel around in a van. The future is not yet written. But today I am sitting by the pool planning a beach walk when the wife gets off work later this afternoon.

What would your wife do in these scenarios? I thought you were moving to be closer to your son? Why wouldn’t you do that?

My wife works two days a week in Raleigh she leaves in the am and spends one night a week at her brothers house. I would like to move to be closer to my son but it may take 6 months to sell my house and I may just stay put another year. Or it may sell and we may move next week but I may decide last minute I want a different house. The housing market has dropped. Regardless I don't have a mortgage and the summers here are really nice it will be fine. I am kind of enjoying the pool and working out outside.

Damn, they went the whole hunny K like I advised. Desperation. Since 3/29 down $350K. And now still overpriced and chasing the market down.

250k which is about 13% which is unfortunately where the market has moved the last 6 months with interest rates everyoen is dropping their asking prices. We are also seeing the same thing in the market we are looking to move so while our house may sell for less we can buy another house cheaper. Which is why it may make sense to back out of a buy contract we signed 6 months ago. Think of it as an out of money call option you choose not to exercise. Again though sellingin a down market is not that bad as you get some of it back as the house you buy will also be cheaper. But if it doesn't sell we may just stay another year. Either way rest assured I am going to continue to live a great life.

Eh this last week I really enjoyed riding my bike in then neighborhood with my son. I may decide I would like to be further out from the city in a more kid friendly neighborhood. The housing market has dropped by the same amount of my deposit anyway so looking at other options again.

That actually isn't how it works in America. Assets liquid or real aquired before the marriage are not joint property. You only split assets acquired from income earned during the marriage. Also the fuck do you think a CFA and a Lawyer both of whom have been married and divorced have not discussed and figured out their finances?  She is gone one night a week she leaves at 5am Thursday and is home by 7pm Friday. She also does not stay with her daughter she didn't move out 6 months ago you just made all that up. I stay here and watch the kids myself one night a week not alone have to get up and take the kid to the bus stop. She also sometimes only goes in Friday and is just gone for the day. Again not the same as you claiming she moved out 6 months ago. She was also never my drug counselor or my divorce lawyer again you just made all that up.

If the house doesn't sell I don't have to move I can take it off and relist next year. Not the end of the world.
