never been a big eater
4k cals is a lot for me
once tried 6k because I read it in a magazine (Tom Platz), managed 2 days then my system was clogged up

Zack Khan weight 280lbs was only eating 4k a day off season

and before Brian comes in to ruin the thread if he eats all the shit he claims to eat hes purging and throwing up.

Depending on LBM human metabolisms only vary by around 600cals
Fat people who say they have a slow metabolism overeat and thin people who claim fast metabolism dont eat enough

Excess calories equals fat, there isnt any way around that

Intense exercise builds muscle not excess calories

Last time I force fed was late 90s early 2000s.

Didn't count calories because I didn't need to - just kept gaining weight.

Got strong, but body comp wasn't great, and have never felt the need to do it again.

Do I undereat a bit now?  Probably, but probably only by a small amount.

Exactly excess calories=more fat deposition at least for me it does

What do you think of guys that claim most all the extra calories they eat build muscle and they gain very little fat?

I think it's bullshit but my size gaining genetics are god awful so maybe it's true for them

How much of that was muscle? Do you remember?

Using gear and growth you just add water weight, its not real muscle

If you are natty, 5lb of muscle a year is about right

Excess cals get stored as fat , you eat more than the body can process and you shit it out.
Fat takes time to produce like muscle fat comes on gradually, faster than muscle but it takes time
Eating 18 k cals a day for three days wont make you fat, eating 4k a day for 2 weeks will

It's pretty simple

If you eat more than you need you gain weight and if you eat less you lose weight

They say someone's maintainance calories can be in a range say 2000-2500 but I ain't so much bout that

Yep it total calories over a period of time

That's why some can have a cheat day and not lose or gain weight because another day or two over the week they just ate less

This is basically what these carb cycling these guys are doing nowadays as Thier total calories over the week are at maintenance

My watch says that's about my maintenance.  Hence what I posted in the "what did you eat thread".

I'll up the cals a bit in the fall to focus on getting stronger.

Understood I'm trying to figure out my maintenance now it's not 2000 as I lost 1.5 pounds on it over a week

Yesterday I fucked up coz I ate 2 chocolate bars and 3 pastries and 2 gig macs so probably bout 3200-3500 calories

So during the rest of the week I gotta take out 1000 calories or so to get an accurate reading

average your cals over a week
Why do you think its important about daily calories

We have only been eating similar daily cals for around 100 years if that

No you don't.  Just eat normal and it will level out.

I'm only counting daily to ensure I don't go over a certain sat fat level, and i'm only doing it for a month as an experiment.

Just eat well, and if you have a bad day, move on.

How much of that was muscle? Do you remember?

A lot.  I'm naturally lean.  Just a shade under 6'2".

Was lifting very hard and heavy doing a fullbody routine.

It was very hard for me to gain weight.

This was with no drugs.  Around age 20.

I got up to 240 around age 25.

Now I'm right around 200 as an old codger.

If I'm left to my own devices regarding gaining muscle which I'm trying now to do I just overeat too fucking much and gain mostly fat

So I figured out I have to pay the fucking price and be disciplined about my calorie intake and that starts with figuring my maintenance and then adding 200 calories extra to make sure I make lean quality muscle gains and not shitty fat mass gains

That way is a fucking waste of time and of money

Off course training most be on point as well

Generally if you weights go up whilst eating lots more will go to muscle

Unfortunately that didn't happen for me when I did this

I was schooled by this from jm Blakeley he told me to "bathe the cell in nutrients" and for every pound of muscle gained you'll need to gain 3 pounds of fat

I don't like those odds but I did it anyway like a fucking dipshit

I count macros....fuck calories.

Some people like our resident slop eater ingests tons of garbage....what`s the   point when it`s all impacted sht and water, which he loses in a day or so ?

It`s a marathon,not a sprint.

I was only 20 doing this so my metabolism was high.

Couldn't do it now.

After a certain age it wouldn't work.

20 to 25?

Around 22 I had to focus on school and couldn't train and eat as much.

After college was over I got back into training and eating like a maniac and pushed the weight up.

Then had to make money so focused on working, etc and backed off on it, got married, kids, etc.

My weight went to 225 for the rest of my life except for a brief time when I went on a low fat diet and dropped to 195 but gave that up and went back to the 220s.

About 3 years ago I went low carb and have been around 200 since.

Late teens, early 20's, between like 19-20. If I had to guess, I was good for 4500-5000 kcals a day for three or four months during that summer. Most of the time it was shit food - 3-4 McDonalds cheese burgers a sitting, an order of fries, a 2 liter of real Pepsi, a slice of pizza($1.35) here and there, plus other things. You could live like a real high falutin' fatass for $10-15 a day.

Gained 25-30lbs, gave back probably half. Got relatively strong though. Thing that saved me was that it was before social media, and internet culture. We'd be out 10am - 1 or 2 in the morning, chasing girls, working, and tons of walking.

When I had no cash early 90s my weight gainer of choice was the following:

2 cups milk
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup oats
Peanut butter

Was pretty awful and filled up the blender, but I did that twice a day pretty regularly.
