Brian tells so may lies and half truths there is no point taking anything he says as truth, just assume hes lying all the time.

Hes spent a lifetime lying and gaslighting people hence why he lives alone apart from a crafty woman who is about to take everything he has.
He thinks hes clever and has one over on Em due to his claim she can only claim half the joint earnings since they were together and the fact he doesnt earn protects his wealth.

He thinks hes smarter than everyone including Em, he thinks Ems layer qualificatons and the fact she deals with divorce counts for nothing against his supreme MENSA level intellect.
