Interesting.  Always thought that pic was of Abe Atell and Owen Moran. That era was incredible.  I only wish the film quality was better. Abe Atell was one of the conspirators in the 1919 black sox scandal.

Abe, Owen, Battling Nelson, Ad Wolgast, "Mexican" Joe Rivers, "Harlem" Tommy Murphy, Terry McGovern, Packey McFarland and a few others, engaged in brutal 20 round wars, a lot of draws and newspaper decisions.

But I digress.. in old books covering boxing that picture has been captioned as Abe, Tommy, Owen or Rivers.

Ive never even heard of these two before and I have read volumes of books covering the history of boxing. I always heard the longest fight ever was between John L Sullivan and Jake Kilrain which was 76 rounds, though I don't think they were 3 minute rounds. Mike Tyson made his first son's middle name Kilrain.

Yeah, they're in the 6th round. If you're watching it on ESPN +  it starts from the beginning regardless when you turn it on. I fast forwarded through some of the prelims. Joyce Chisora is currently in round 6. Its rock em sock em robots.

Joe Louis had at least two bouts scheduled for 20 rounds: Abe Simon and Bob Pastor.

He KOed both in those 20-rounders.
