in the bodybuilding world, a 'political' decision is generally accepted to have occured when a physique is
either:
1) awarded a placing far
better than it deserved based on the merits of the physique on contest day
(eg. Arnold 1980, Dorian 1994/1996, )
OR
2) awarded a placing far
worse than it deserved
(eg. Wolf 2007, Menzter 1980, Aaron Baker (pretty much any post WBF contest).
The physiques themselves and the relavent placements provide clear evidence of politics.
None of us will ever know the true motive behind Joe Weider and his reasonings.
that does NOT mean that politically motivated placings did not occur.
that is the point.
You don't need to come up with some 'theory' as to why Franco won in 1981 to see that poltics were involved.
all you have to do his compare his physique to his competitors like Platz and you quickly see the proof right in front of your eyes.
