A question. Is this the longest thread exist in the internet forum?
Can be in the guiness?

Longest overall maybe, there must be many which are way older and maybe longer but not that I know of. I think it is def the longest "single" topic debate.

I'd agree with longest thread count... This one is my favorite though... It's all about "potential".

  Quote, Joe Weider:

"Many experts, including reigning Mr.Olympia, Jay Cutler, believe that at his best Ronnie has the greatest physique of all times. When looking at pictures of Ronnie from the 1998 Mr.Olympia, I find it hard to argue with that."

Pay attention, dude. Weider mentions Ronnie's best as his 1998 form. Not 1999, mind you, but 1998. It seems few people believe Ronnie was at his best in 1999. Most either claim 1998 Olympia and 2001 ASC form for his crisp details, or 2003 Olympia form when he had overpowering size with a still not-so-big waist, as his best perfomance.

Well, McGough specifically mentions 1999 NOT 1998 in HIS article of Mr. O's that advanced the sport.

so there. :P

its been done.

striations everywhere:

much to the dismay of tier C of Tier B remaining on team dorian lol

Fucking hell, I occasionally think Dorian would have a decent case against Ronnie but 99 was a different thing, Flex is bigger there than he was against Dorian, and Ronnie is noticeably thicker with better legs and superior torso, his ass destroys everyone too, and all with an absolutely insane taper which Dorian's structure could NEVER allow!

so there. :P

I am pretty sure McGough prefers Ronnie in his 2001 ASC shape. Or so I've heard.

I agree with you that Ronnie's muscles were even rounder and more shapely in 1999 than in 1998, but he lost some detail that he had the previous year. So there are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to Ronnie 1998 vs 1999. :)

I think Ronnie had better conditioning and seperation in his back and abs in 98, while he had a little better conditioning and seperation in his legs, chest and delts in 99. Arms were pretty much the same for both years. The deifference in total body conditioning is so small between 98 and 99 it really doesn't matter to me.

I think every reasonable person will concur that Ronnie had slightly crisper, more clear details in 1998 than 1999, as the pics I provided prove. Again, the fact that Ronnie was more defined in 1998 than 1999 doesen't mean his muscles looked better in the former year.

the pics you provided when compared to the pics I provided show the difference is neglible.

although as mentioned, Ronnie probably had better abs in 98 but noticably smoother quads.

the quad difference was specifically mentioned in the 99 olympia review by Lonnie Teper in Ironman.

they were really close. only Ronnie 99 was more full. with the same definition.

result: the reason why McGough didn't care about 1998:

Yes, we are talking about minutiae differences here. But understand that at the nec plus extra level of competition, minutiae differences are important. I never claimed that Ronnie 1999 lacked separations; I claimed he had slightly more of it 1998. Relatives and not absolutes. :)

That might be so, but you need to understand that it is the total package and not a specific bodypart that counts. Ronnie had better overral definition at the 1998 Olympia rendition. :)

It was especifically mentioned at several reviews that Ronnie was more defined in 1998 than 1999. ;)

Fuller, rounder, more shapely muscle bellies, yes. Same definition, no.

But he cared more for Ronnie's 2001 ASC form, when he looked more like he did in 1998, than he did for Ronnie's 1999 form. Riddle me that? ;)

I think the biggest difference is that Ronnie carried
10-12 pounds more muscle in 1999 than 98 or 2001
with very little if any difference in definition.
Here are two respected people that were there and
said Ronnie was just as ripped or sharper in 99.
Natural Mr. Olympia - John Hansen

When Ronnie won his first Mr. Olympia contest in 1998, it was one of the most exciting victories in the sport's history. His biceps, back and chest are absolutely incredible and nearly everyone agrees that he owns the Rear Double Biceps pose in this sport. Many people in the sport have also talked about the fact that Ronnie Coleman may be the best Mr. Olympia ever!
Last year, Ronnie was about ten pounds heavier and he was just as ripped as when he won the contest the first time in 1998.

Musclemag International 1999 Mr. Olympia Review By Johnny Fitness

Ronnie was gargantuan, herculean, and every adjective in between.
He was ripped, sharper than last year, and filled with a champions confidence.

Seen before but striations from the bottom of his pecs to top of his delts
and intercostals that are devoid of fat or water.
