If he did say Dorian was better, it was probably out of modesty.

it would have been great to see dorian in his 97ish state to try and tackle the best overall physique in bb history: 8)

I mean, these photos show a massacre of dorian, can you imagine how it would have looked onstage?

not enough quotes. This thread needs more

Joe Weider - IFBB Co-Founder

"Many experts, including reigning Mr.Olympia, Jay Cutler, believe that at his best Ronnie has the greatest physique of all-time. When looking at pictures of Ronnie from the 1998 Mr.Olympia, I find it hard to argue with that."

Team Flex - http://www.flexonline.com/training/49

"We've said before that the 245 pounds or so physique with which [Ronnie Coleman] won the 2001 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic is the best ever - unbeatable."

John Plummer – Flexonline 2003 Mr. Olympia Contest Review

“The long-awaited triple showdown between Coleman, Jay Cutler and Günter Schlierkamp failed to materialize as the defending champion destroyed all-comers with possibly the most awesome physique ever seen on a bodybuilding stage.”

http://www.flexonline.com.au/216.html

Hany Rambod - MD, February 2004

"[Ronnie] was so far ahead of everyone else, I heard a rumor that his DNA actually tested positive for being an alien."

Lonnie Teper - MD, December 2005

"I've always said that it's too hard to compare athletes of different eras (then he names a few Mr. Olympias including Dorian). Still, it's hard to imagine that anybody who's ever stepped on a bodybuilding stage could have beaten Coleman. So I reserve the right to change my mind on this one. No offense to the rest of the champs - you were/are all truly amazing physique athletes - but Coleman has really taken it to the next level, as all magnificent conquerors do."

Peter McGough - Flex, August 2005

"Ronnie sporting that [01 ASC] look would, in my opinion, be unbeatable."

Peter McGough - Flex, April 2002

“[Ronnie Coleman] bounced back to win the 2001 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic with a physique that may have been the best ever seen.”

Peter McGough - Flex, August 2005

"Personally, the best physique I ever saw onstage was Ronnie's at the 2001 Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic. He was cut, full, trim in the waist and a monster (proving that when you're supersharp, you look superbig) at 244 pounds. Ronnie sporting that look would, in my opinion, be unbeatable."

Shawn Perine Ironage Dec 11, 2004

“As much as I love Haney and my IA champs, I think Ronnie circa '98 or at the 2001 Arnold is pretty much untouchable. Except by Dorian Yates 6 weeks out from the '93 O as photographed by our own KMH. Both men, on those specific occasions carried so much dry muscle mass in good proportion and with good lines that it's almost unfair to compare them to others.”

Shawn Perine - Flex, July 2007 p. 207

"After all, he's still, even at 43 yrs old, eight-time Mr. O Ronnie freakin' Coleman. Which is to say, arguably the best bodybuilder who has ever lived."

Tony Doherty - Heavy Muscle Radio (03-16-09)

"Ronnie is the best ever. No one even comes close."

Tony Doherty - http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=270388.msg3803035#msg3803035

"Absolutely no question. The best ever, I have seen them and worked with them all. Seeing Ronnie in 2003 was like looking into the future!"

Raymond Cassar - Muscletime Editor and Photographer

"There is no one alive that can beat Ronnie Coleman when he is at his best - No One! (and his best for me was when he won the 2001 Arnold Classic)"

http://www.muscletime.com/news/contest-results/2007-mr-olympia-analysis

Steve Blechman - MD, February 2004

"Ronnie perseveres and proves continually that, at his best, he is unbeatable."

"Ronnie Coleman is not only the greatest Mr. O of all time, he is also one of the oldest"

Greg Merritt - Flex, July 2007 p. 212

"Coleman is only two years older than the new Mr. O (hypothetical article saying if Toney Freeman won), but time stops for no man, including the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived."

Greg Meritt – http://www.metroflexgymtraining.com/testimonials.html

“From the greatest bodybuilder of all-time, Ronnie Coleman, to gregarious owner Brian Dobson to the kid who joined yesterday, everyone is trying to push themselves further than ever before, and it’s the energy of this shared commitment that makes Metroflex great.”

Chris Lund (Paraphrased by Milos Sarcev) - European Flex, April 2004

"Chris Lund who I consider to be a great expert in our sport of bodybuilding, told me that Ronnie is simply the best bodybuilder he has ever seen, or photographed, and he has seen everybody, during the last 35 years."

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=237938.0

Hollis Liebman - Former Fitness Editor and IFBB Official

"The era of the big man would commence with Lee Haney (1984-1991), whose formidable torso would dominate the lineup for 8 straight years and was then elevated by Dorian Yates (1992-1997), whose back and overall conditioning upped the ante yet again until an alien named Ronnie Coleman (1998-2005), in all likelihood the greatest bodybuilder of all time, would redefine the sport bringing a near 300 pound contest ready physique to the stage."

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=238675.0

Flex Wheeler - MD, February 2004

"I'll go on record as saying Ronnie is truly the biggest, hardest, most shredded Mr. Olympia in history. No disrespect to anybody at all, but I'd to identify Ronnie Coleman as the greatest Mr. Olympia of all time."

Paul Dillet - MD, February 2004

"Understand that if Ronnie walked away tomorrow, I do not think anyone can measure up to the standards he has set. Just like Sergio Oliva, an awesome bodybuilder way ahead of his time, and like Flex Wheeler, who had an absolutely perfect, beautiful physique. No one will match Serigo or Flex and now Ronnie."

Mike Matarazzo – Flex, January 1999

“I think this creature from another planet, Ronnie Coleman, is going to be number one for a while. I think that, in the shape he was in, he would have beaten Dorian Yates. Ronnie has every single attribute it takes to be the greatest bodybuilder who ever lived.”

Jean Pierre Fux - Personal Website

"The current Mr. Olympia (Ronnie Coleman). In top shape, probably the best physique that ever stepped on stage."

Dexter Jackson - Flex, January 2004

"As to Ronnie, that dude is by far the best bodybuilder on earth, he is in a class by himself, and no one will be able to touch him for years to come."

Branch Warren – Flex, October 2006

“I have a lot of respect for Ronnie. He’s probably the greatest bodybuilder there’s ever been.”

John Hansen, 2x Mr. Natural Universe and Mr. Natural Olympia - Personal Website

"It would be safe to say that [Ronnie Coleman] presented a physique that has never been seen by the bodybuilding world ever before. Competing at an incredibly massive 287 pounds, Ronnie destroyed the competition with a physique that could not possibly be equaled."

Ryan Mackie - A Fan Perspective: My 2003 Olympia Experience (Hosted on Bodybuilding.com)

"Everyone could see that at 287 pounds this was Ronnie's night and that he was back on top of his game and furthermore bodybuilding had just seen the bar of excellence raised even further. Just like Dorian Yates did in 1993 when he set a new standard, Ronnie has now taken it even further leaving all his competitors wonder what they have to do to now catch Ronnie Coleman, let alone beat him."

Carlon M. Colker – MD, February 2004

"You could hear the thud as our jaws dropped to the floor when he came out onstage... His combination of mass and cuts were so awe inspiring. Ron Harris and I just kept rubbing our eyes. Here is a man reported to be 287 pounds the morning of the show and had every bit of cuts that a Mr. Olympia should have."

Phil Heath - Dexter Jackson Classic Superstar Seminar

"98, yeah, was incredible but I remember sitting there buying [the 03 Mr. Olympia] PPV and watching that with my college friends and, literally, on the top of the damn chair, talking about "man, did you see that?" Did you just see what happened?"

"For me, 98 and 03, but 03 was retarded. Ask Jay. He'll tell you. Dude just came off a damn spaceship."

Joe McNeal - Dexter Jackson Classic Superstar Seminar

"It's not a question - 03. He was the biggest, most freakiest thing that's ever walked onstage, bar none. Bar none! The greatest."

Bob Cicherello - Dexter Jackson Classic Superstar Seminar

"Honest to God, it's the first time I ever recall to this day being in the audience - Ronnie walks out in 03 and people started laughing. And they didn't start laughing for any other reason other than it was like that "oh my god." He was so big, so dominating. Just the looks on their faces like Godzilla had just walked in there."

sweet list how long did it take you to make this?

it's something that grew over time - maybe a year or so? It started off as a few and I kept adding whenever I came across a new quote

Quote
although it is a good nail in the coffin almost half don't actually say ronnie was the best.

which ones don't say or imply Ronnie is the best or at least better than Dorian? I would be surprised if you came up with more than 5, let alone "half"

even though Ronnie in 98 was so far above dorian 97 it wasn't even funny, ronnie knew how political dorian's later wins were and knew the the judges would have looked the other way like always..

he was just being smart and realistic..

leave it to ND to not understand this and misquote what he said.. ::)
Way to try and put words in Ronnie's mouth.
You don't know what Ronnie was trying to say anymore than ND.
BTW, there you go again throwing up the worst pics from the 97 O you can find. (I agree that Dorian was far from his best that year)
The thing is, Dorian was the benchmark up until that point. Had he not retired, he still would be the benchmark. That in and of itself IMO would cause the judges to go with him again. He was dwarfing Ronnie at that point all around. That was Dorians heaviest, and Ronnie was much lighter in 98, so he would still be the benchmark, had he competed. And he wouldhave been training his upper body again, remember in 97 Dorian couldnt train his upper body for several weeks before the O. In addition to the tears, thats why he was so small in the arms. s

He was going downhill after 1995. If he did not get any better from 96 to 97, do you think he would have gotten any better in 98?

With all the injuries and how his legs and arms looked in comparison to his back, I don't think so.

why is this thread even in existence? ???

Exactly, I mean 4 years of constant arguing and discussing for what? Ronnie at his best is better than Dorian and better than any other bodybuilder past or present. Even if someone doesn't like Ronnie has to admit that, I'm a bigger fan of the physiques like Shawn Ray, etc.
But Ronnie at his best is unbeatable.

Those pics you posted are a clear example of how distant they were. If the Dorian fans want to claim those are selective pics, just look at the videos and its the same.

Seriously, 4 years of trying to compare Dorian to Ronnie. ::)

I thought it was against IFBB rules? Also the use of props is against the rules. But beacuse of his skin colour the judges wouldn't dare say anything to him.

Oh my God, Ronnie is a "TWAT" so Dorian looks better? Most desperate non-argument yet.

when your whole argument is some fantasy that the visuals are wrong/faked you know are on the losing side.

ND just realized that arguing against real life is retarded.

its that simple.

I would have too. but then I would never have been that stupid to argue something as ridiculous as dorian being better than a peak ronnie in the first place..

I know the sport a lot better than that.

dorian could use some tips from King Ron on how to train arms.  8)

actually, no.

ronnie's arms are the one bodypart that did not change that much before 98.

ronnie was know for his arms before he won the olympia.

what did those arms do for ronnie against dorian?  absolutley nothing.

yeah, but when ronnie was competing against dorian, the rest of him was shitty.

thats why he lost to everybody back then.

once the rest of him filled in to match his amazing arms, it was game over.

dorian would not stand a chance, as the visuals all confirm.

owned. :P

This one seems to be over but I'm still not clear on the winner ND or Hulkster?

well, only one of us stuck around.

the other pussied out long ago with his head down in shameful and embarrassing defeat.

winner: Hulkster.

How do you marry your so called victory with the fact that the person you're defending, ironically enough admitted defeat?  ;D
