It must be painful to see your boy completely dominated by Coleman, who wasn't even as big as he got later. bwhahahahahaahahahahah

that's why he placed 6th - his best ever against yates and his competition.

pathetic.

almost as bad as being a training moderator and using a bowflex not going to a gym.

pumpster,

throughout this thread you have questioned the fact that contest placing are used (your deflection from reality) but yet, you have posted the same picture of yates from 92 to colmeman from 99.

you've also have bitched when someone posts a pre 98 picture of ronnie (again, a reference about contest placings and ronnies from 92-97) vs. a prime dorian picture.

but yet, you have done the exact opposite since page 87.

explain.

or are you going to ignore this question like the bowflex issue.

by the way, that pic of ronnie is fake.

Pics are worth 1,000 words, a whole lot more than regurgitating political contest results.

still waiting for an example or reason of why politics would impact yates winning?

just 1.

i've been asking your for just 1 example or even a partial one since page 138.

why do you need a reason when there is an abundance of clear proof that Dorian did not dominate on the basis of the merits of his physique alone?

only uncle joe knows the real reason.

the rest of the world just sees the result: :-\

and besides, you are missing the point:

dorian won because he had a good back and was bigger than most of his competition.

most. those that were bigger than him (paul and nasser) had no back.

Is it really a POLITCAL reason that Yates won because of this?

no it wasn't.

a politcal reason would be that he was "more marketable" or "we want a white person to win" or something dumb like that.

this was not a poltical reign.

it was a reign that lasted as long as it did because of poor judging standards: size and width over quality at all costs.

Because (1) it's obvious, everyone already knows the history, and (2) it's been repeated over and over again. Obviously went right over your head LOL

good and valid points - this is what i was referencing to you pumpster.  this is something you have not done in 1100 pages - provide any sort of meaningful post to this thread.

you post the same picture of a relaxed dorian, over, and over, and over.

anyways, i agree with what hulkster has said, but yates won bc he had the best combo of overall mass AND conditioning.

if that's what the judges were looking for and that's what was rewarded, then so be it.

Politics, judging and commercial interests are all intertwined in a highly commercial enterprise accountable to no one. What is more or less important in determining winners is entirely unknowable to those watching from the outside, which includes everyone here.

Yates looks good there, save for the smallish arms & muscular waist.

and that is the problem.

he was sorely lacking in the quality department compared to some of his smaller foes, especially in 1994, 1996 and 1997:

very poor judging.

mass is not everything, especially in bodybuilding.

quality has to count too..

Okay everyone, imagine this Dorian:

next to this Ronnie:

Say what you will about Dorian, I personally think he was a great Mr O, but it's just not gonna happen for him in this debate.

Bump. I can't help but feel that this post ends the debate.

denied.

even hulkster would admit that yates' condition would make ronnie's 03 look like he was guest posing.

the word "quality" is up for debate.

is quality dryness and hardness or details, cuts, striations, etc.

based on what the judges have done, it depends on who is in the lineup.

than the same exact thing can be said for coleman.

he wins would have much more political basis than dorian.

ronnie is a minority with a very respectable profession (when he was a cop), graduated college with honors, and is in reality a hometown boy who made good.  he has all the show muscles - big  arms, legs, and chest.

dorian is a boring guy from england with a criminal record and skinhead tatoos.  he physique can be described as ugly and unconventional.

explain why yates or bbing in general would benefit from him being the top dog?  esp. when he doesnt even live in this country or even attempt to promote bbing?
