In Yates' case this is also a rationalization, since everyone has flaws. In fact, Yates was far more flawed than Dillet. Even recent interviews suggest that Yates still doesn't comprehend how fortunate he was. Dillet only major flaw was back, and if you look carefully the bigger issue was proper posing, not back development, which was good not great. Bottom line he killed Yates from most angles.

A crime that Wheeler was denied thanx to this. Tiny arms. Yates has the edge on everyone re: dryness and hardness, but loses on all other counts.
Yates is just killing wheeler there in hardness, condition and balance. Wheeler's arms are more aesthetic but that's all he has over Yates.

His waist is wider because he has wider lats. In fact his lats look three times wider than Wheeler's. You can't have lats as wide as Yates' and still have a waist 28". If the lats are ultra wide it doesn't matter if the waist is a bit wide.
The funny thing is. they let a a broken down, cow belly, no arms, polumboism yates win the 97 Olympia that clearly didn't deserve the title. Atleast they didn't let Coleman win the 06 Olympia because Cutler looked better and Coleman didn't look good at all. The real winner won the 06 Olympia. Too bad I can't say the same for the 97 Olympia. What a friggin shame.

I know that Coleman nuthuggers find it hard to accept the truth but the fact remains this physique beat up Coleman at the 97 Olympia. Coleman was 8 places below Yates and the contest was judged fairly by the best judges in the IFBB. 'Nuff said.
