Firstly, UN peacekeepers are not UN staff (neither is a boy scout posing with a phone for a photo op, BTW); they are bog-standard soldiers employed in a peacekeeping role to observe and monitor.

Additionally, there's no such thing as a 'takedown team'. He's just trying to jazz up what would have been nothing more than an officer saying something along the lines of 'Healy and one or two others, when we enter this building, if we encounter any hostility, please grab the guy and restrain him'. Naturally, this gets turned into an elite door-kicking mission and engaging hand-to-hand with battle-hardened Yugoslav militiamen.

Same as the time he carried an entire mortar system up the mountains of Kosovo. No, he didn't. The mortar is broken down into 3 parts (the barrel, the base-plate, and the bipod) and 1 man carries each piece. It's not hard.

Lastly, 'recruited for special forces' is just another vacuous statement that means absolutely nothing. Special forces never have enough men and if you meet the minimum requirements of time served and have a reasonable AFQT score, you'd be invited to try. The telling point is that Hankins didn't try, did he? He didn't actually attempt any selection as that's too much like hard work. Ducking nonsense.

From what I understand it’s because SEALs are allowed to talk openly as opposed to like Delta, etc who have to are limited to why they can say. CIA Paramilitary are basically under gag orders.

They were peacekeepers and the threat would have been encountering angry, unarmed civilians at best. Back then, you'd get away with plasticuffing them. Point being, there's no such thing as a Takedown Team. It's just usual 'actions on' to cover any sort of potential situation.

If anyone got out of line me and my weightlifting partner were the two meatheads in the platoon designated to tackle and hog tie them with zip ties. No you don’t just shoot angry villagers rules of engagement we hogtied them but yeah obviously we are talking about angry civilians not enemy combatants but these same angry villagers were pot shottimg us which is why we went in and searched their homes for weapons on the first place. We also were looking at is some of these so called villagers were war criminals in hiding.

It’s says Infantry on all my paperwork. It says special forces on my recruitment paperwork. I was Infantry you want my diploma from Infranty school because I have that as well.
