This, the above political evolution posts, and his machinations to pussy out of his own challenges after tough guy talk seem to bring up the timely issue: Is he for Open Borders? I'd think yes, so he can leave the state and fit in with his imaginary high placed Dem friends? On the other hand Border controls have saved him recently.
I am not for open borders. I believe citizenship is like a union and membership is devalued when we allow scabs to increase the labor supply thus lowering wages for actual citizens union members. Additionally, Clinton anchor babies are now Harris voters. The Democrats have planned to change the voting demographics long term through immigration legal or otherwise. I do not appreciate that as a member of the Jamestown Society I value my heritage and do believe it entitles me to certain things. I consider my family founders. I do not wish to see our culture and society diluted. So no, I am not for Open borders.
The problem is new immigrants are new cheap labor, and new renters and taxpayers people want them here on both sides. They are even counted when allocating votes so they do increase a state's representation in DC to have illegals as total resident count is used not citizen. They increase overall GDP and profits they help the rich while not overall standard of living for the masses who lose out on wage growth. We have rich conservatives willing to sell out to importing socialism which is the dems goal along with additional federal funding and votes. Unfortunately, their love of the dollar now is greater than their fear of socialism in another generation. So forces on both sides support pushing down wages while keeping rents up with additional immigration.
Then you get the Euro conundrum they need immigration to support their aging populations socialist retirement. They want young working taxpayers to pay their retirees all their benefits so they let the Arabs come in. Do we not have a similar issue with Social Security? Who is going to fund it? We have an upside down pyramid of too many people retiring and getting benefits and not enough tax revenue to pay it. So the easy fix instead of fixing social security and making it defined benefit is to open the borders. So yeah the old people are selling us out to pay for their Social Security. If we could open more legal immigration to at least get non-religious capitalist that don't want sharia law or outright communism that would be a start. Fixing our social programs to eliminate the need for new immigrants would be even better. But an argument can be made for allowing educated immigrants of workign tax payign age in. We just need to make sure they pay more in taxes than citizens not less
Illegal Immigration is supporting the housing market. But what is a good housing market one where your home goes up in value or one where homes are affordable? Kind of depends on if you rent or plan to buy vs already own. Same thing with interest rates high rates are bad for a borrower but are great for an investor. So with all thing immigration kind of depends on are you investor or working class? Are you borrowing or lending, are you the renter or landlord, worker or retiree, foreman or day labor, because illegal immigration effects everyone very differently.
