I’m sorry these names in the Olympia just do nothing for me. Just not like the old days when you knew these guys and it was cool. Now they seem like nothing more than social media whores with weird ass names.
And how did we know the guys? It was from the magazines. With MD gone, there are no muscle publications left.
Thanks to YouTube (a virtual time machine), you can see so much footage of Arnold Schwarzenegger that you almost forget he retired nearly 45 YEARS AGO. Similar thing goes for Ronnie Coleman. All those clips of him deadlifting and squatting 800 are well over 20 YEARS OLD.
When you have to rely solely on the internet/social media, too many fans simply go online to look at bodybuilders from their perceived "Golden Era". I engage in this practice as much as anyone, when it comes to reliving the late 80s and early 90s (especially the WBF).
With the magazines, you had a captive audience; so introducing new stars and getting familiar with them was much easier.
Now, it's just go back to your favorite decade: 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, or 2010s. Just hit YouTube and reminisce.
