Made me sad, didn't even want to read past the headline yesterday. Manhattan is filled with violent border jumpers and mental cases, and they have $10,000 of thousands to spend raiding and killing this guy's pet.

If you read more into the story you'll see that the owners had their pet raccoon also taken away, which is classified as a wild animal that can carry the rabies virus, squirrels too.

This couple had the raccoon and the squirrel for 7 years and never filed for the permits to keep them as pets.
Unfortunately the only way to check a squirrel for rabies is to kill it. Decapitate it actually from what I gather.

Really sad but they should have gotten the paperwork done to legally own the animals.
