Congratulations to all of you folks who rooted for Trump. Condolences to those of us who supported and voted for VP Harris. The next four years will undoubtably be very interesting and challenging. Hopefully, Trump follows through on some of his promises and the economy becomes as prosperous as folks hope it to be.
My plan is to take a break from national politics and focus on local and Oregon politics. Oregonians fared very well in yesterday’s elections. The legislative and statewide candidates OPRI supported won or kept their seats. I look forward to working with them on matters pertaining to PERS. The West Linn, county and state candidates who I supported did well in this election.
West Linn native 24-year-old Rory Bialostosky ran uncontested for his second term as West Linn’s mayor. It appears business owner Keith Wilson will be Portland’s next mayor although there are votes left to count. He has a tough job ahead of him, Portlanders want the city’s homeless/housing shortage problem resolved as quickly as possible.
Businesses in downtown Portland who prepped for possible protests can start taking down the plywood as it appears it was a false alarm. I expect there will be a peaceful transition nationally unlike the horror that happened in 2020 when protesters stormed the capitol.
Have a great day.
