I think all women crave attention. It seems to be in their DNA. Most of the time I don't believe there's much logic behind it. In her case maybe she wants attention to gain sympathy, like you suggested. Or perhaps she's trying to signal she's single to attract a new man. Maybe she's hoping the attention will boost her followers and help grow her "social media brand." I’m not smart enough to figure out why women do what they do most of the time. I usually just chalk it up to illogical, impulsive behavior without any deeper motive. But who knows. There could be some reasoning behind it.
