IFBB 'Professional League'??
« on: May 03, 2006, 10:49:02 AM »
http://www.ifbb.com/ifbbpro/events.htm

Where'd the new name come from?

And does this mean that they've started paying proper taxes now?

heh heh heh

The new logo is cool, though.

The name was changed to the "pro league" from the "Pro division" to avoid any confusion with Wayne impending "Pro Div Inc."....

It is funny how some of the hardcore IFBB supporters who refuse to believe the PDI is here yet the IFBB knows very well it is here and is already doing damage and forcing change.  I think the log sucks.  I can't believe it looks so plain and old.  Almost like a school kid designed it.

Yup, I gotta agree. Looks like they went and got all original and stole the old PamAm logo. That's good work boys.  ;D

   1. To be about to occur: Her retirement is impending.
   2. To threaten to happen; menace: discouraged by the trouble that impended.

Keith, as usual...

NOTHING has taken place yet...not a show, not a sponsor named, not an athlete paid...until that happens, it's speculation and IMPENDING at best. Much like the Toronto Pro...It can be pulled at any minute for lack of support, both financially and ticket sales.

Yes Dictionaries show the meanings of words, however your early rhetoric suggested that this 'federation' was similar to that of what Craig was talking about, the 'japanese' federation,  the one that failed to materialized.....

Now your tune has changed and guess what chick , still no PDI show...

i guess its good to not be in competetion anymore, now you can eat anything, like the words you spoke ...

Respectfully Bob,you are right,but....

I think it is safe to say That Pro Division is more than speculation. Otherwise, why would the IFBB be worried about there being any confusion between the two?

They're not.

It was Wayne that worked on the whole "Pro division" thing when he was still with the IFBB.

The language was changed within the IFBB rules to include the word "pro division" as a division amongst the IFBB.

When Wayne went on his own, he retained the rights to the name "pro division"  and decided to use it to form his corp.

In order to avoid any confusion between the parties, and any legal rights problems...the IFBB decided to simply change the name to Pro League to distinguish between the two...

Until a show comes to fruition, Jack...it can't be anything but speculation.

Why would they be speculation? The IFBB has a 50 year history...

Most shows are required to have the sanction fee paid up front, and the prize money put in escrow...Toronto was given some slack by Manion, to try and help Winston get his shit together, and keep the ball rolling.

Well that's my point. If it can happen to Toronto it can happen to any of them other than the O and AC I would imagine. The Cally Pro didn't do too well last year either, so maybe it is next.

Logic would dictate that a federation with a 50 year history, a base of 200 pro athletes, sponsorship dollars in place, and shows with many years of being run (Arnold, Olympia, Ironman, etc) and that 99% of the shows listed and advertised, come to be...

have a much better chance than a federation that has yet to put on a show, pay an athlete, secure a sponsor, advertise a show, list judges aand officials, and actually see the LIGHT OF DAY...

Get that, Mr. Spock? ;D

Doesn't seem like the 50 year track record is doing them much good latley. Let's talk about now, that is what matters. For the past 3 years or so they have been going down hill. Now, whether this has anything to do with Wayne or not I don't know, but they better get their act together. This Toronto thing is just another black eye for them. Put the blame on whoever you want to it doesn't matter. You're saying that since there is the NY Pro then it's ok, but what if there wasn't? Many here ask why the IFBB just doesn't run their own shows. It's because other than the Olympia and the AC, none of them make a profit or much of one. The IFBB gets their sanction money and they're happy.

they claim it's a 60 year history, but they've held contests consistantly since 1959.   the first congress of the amateur IFBB was held in 1964.  they incorporated in Canada in 1969.

they incorporated in Canada in 1969.

Does this mean that the IFBB conducts no official business in the U.S.?

Yea the Toronto Pro shows exhibits the 50 year history,  The escalating demise of the Olympia shows the 50 year history.  I can go on and on about the 50 year history of the IFBB.  From all indications of the past few years anything the IFBB does now is speculation.  The Toronto Pro proves this as will a couple other shows this year. Even though the PDI has yet to do their frist show, it is more reality than the IFBB.  Now pros are getting into shape to do a show but are not 100% guaranteed it will happen.  That is instability defined to the max.  Now any show the IFBB sanctions will be speculation.  Sorry but those are facts.

I agree with this 100%.  But it hasn't yet.  The IFBB has a history of cancelling shows, the PDI doesn't.

CHic, take a break from the board you are looking worse and worse with every post.  Go have lunch.  I like you man but as I said you are loyal to the wrong people.  You cannot defend the IFBB and make it sound like they are right.  You keep saying the 50 year history, established sponsor base and the many shows and such then wouldn't you think they would have their shit together after all those years.  But the DON'T.  They run the IFBB like a bunch of newcomers that have never done this before.  You are fighting a losing battle buddy.  Give it up you don't need the stress.  get back to just going to shows and being nice all the time.  Call your agent go out on 2 or 3 calls a day.  You will feel much better I promise.  But defending the IFBB when they don't have a leg to stand on is going to deteriorate you.
