Now US is supposedly worried about ISIS and offshoots gaining a foothold, meanwhile helping the islamist all along. Blinken said the US isn't exactly crying about the situation now in Syria. Assad is a secularist, himself part of a minority sect. As The Scott said when I pointed out Israel is helping the islamist extremists, "I guess the the enemy of my enemy is my friend." But what will happen to the sacred human and woman rights the US is always fighting for after Assad is toppled?

True. But we shouldn't get any more involved than we already are, and we shouldn't have meddled in the first place. But I don't think Trump can say all that right now. Trump saying "The United States should have nothing to do with it. This is not our fight. Let it play out. Do not get involved," is actually a great leap forward for American foreign policy, IMO.
