Michael Cohen pleas for Biden presidential pardon: 'I'm somebody's son also'

Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen is demanding President Biden pardon him like he pardoned his son Hunter before President-elect Donald Trump can take office.

Cohen discussed his efforts to reach out to the Biden administration for a pardon on MSNBC’s "The Weekend" Saturday morning. He claimed that not giving him a presidential pardon would continue to allow him "to be in danger" of a Trump prosecution.

Cohen argued Biden has an obligation to protect him and other critics from Trump, like he protected his son Hunter.

"Yeah, I put in the application for a presidential pardon because I believe that Joe Biden has the same responsibility to me that he had to his own son," Cohen said. "And I would expect that the same exact pardon that he gave his son has to go to me and to anybody else that’s on that enemies list, whether they want it or not, because I assure you, solitary confinement, where I did 51 days, sucks."

MSNBC host Symone Sanders agreed with Cohen’s concern over being on Trump’s "enemies list" but disagreed with invoking Hunter Biden for his case.

"I mean, Hunter Biden is the president’s last surviving son," Sanders said.

"I’m somebody’s son also, by the way," Cohen responded.

Biden issues preemptive pardons Mark Milley, Anthony Fauci, J6 committee members

President Biden pardoned  Gen. Mark Milley, and others who some speculated may have faced investigations under the incoming Trump administration on Monday.

Biden's pardons come just hours before he is set to depart the White House and President-elect Trump takes the oath of office once again. The pardon also applies to a litany of people involved in the January 6 select committee investigation.

In addition to the named individuals, the pardon applies to, "Members of Congress and staff who served on the Select Committee, and the U.S. Capitol and D.C. Metropolitan police officers who testified before the Select Committee."

Notably, Special Counsel Jack Smith, former FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland are not included in the pardon, despite speculation that they may face backlash from the incoming administration.

Fauci accepted the pardon in a statement shortly after Biden announced the move, claiming he was subject to "politically motivated threats of investigation and prosecution."

Milley thanked Biden in a similar statement on Monday.
