The bench was hungry again 30 minutes later.....

(Poor guy, but the safeties were set up about one setting too low. RIP.)

Use machines or dumbbells.

No sense of benching unless you’re a competitor.

I workout by myself at the gym and do bench. I just leave the collars off and don’t go over 235 much. From the looks of these videos maybe I need to rethink my approach.

why not just get a half rack,, or a power rack? You will not push yourself to true failure doing bench yourself without it.

Good for failing in squats aswell.

For whatever reason he dropped the bar to his neck instead of his chest.

From the chest, shouldn't usually be a problem if the weights don't have collars.

Metal plates will fall off if the bar is tilted, but in the videos I've seen where they're stuck under the bar, they're often using rubber coated plates and these seem to stick to to each other and are harder to drop from the bar.

Yeah better for us old farts..  ;D  although at home i use a Barbell especially on inclines. I´ve went through periods where i´ve only done inclines on a low incline & no flat press & got good results. Parallel bar dips are more effective imo than flat benches.

How come pushups are not dangerous?

Are pushups dangerous?

Pushups and flat bench press are the same movement.

As long as you can dump the plates you should be ok.

Make sure the plates can slide off.
