I don’t know how he was as a president but his post office life was unlike any leader we’ve ever had. It doesn’t seem that he set his family up with his business connections, and I don’t think we will ever see another president with a hammer in hand building homes for people. He seemed to care for people and the country.

There's a lot to be said for all of those qualities you just mentioned. Seemed like a principled man and lived a long life. Seems the key to a long life is to stay active, mentally engaged, purpose driven.

Hard to forgive him for the Panama Canal though. Idiotic and emotional decision.

I gotta agree that they seemed like decent guys. However, a job like that requires a savage that can make America stand out. Many people seem to hate Carter, and I can kinda see why, but my knowledge of Carter's time is very limited compared to Reagan's and I admit that many people here could school me regarding his faults. He just seemed like a likeable guy to me. Same as Ford. Maybe I'm wrong and they were evil asswipes?

I mean, like a real fucking psychopath. In the white House. An actual high functioning psychopath. It amazes me that there's not an outrage that he made it to the number 1 position, knowing what he was. That guy is the worst president in the history of the states, imo. Truly screwed up that nation for good long term.
