I thought that as well but it's been about ten years since I heard any news of him or saw him flexing anywhere (stage, gym).  ???

Darren sold his gym about 2yrs ago
Yes he's slimmed down a lot he had talked about competing in
mens physique a few yrs back.

I've not seen him in a long time - keeping a low profile as
not seen him at any shows either.

Thanks for the update.  Guess his BB career is truly over.  For all of 5 minutes he was totally huge... now it all just seems like it was a short ride.  Makes me wonder how guys like Robby Robinson can keep going at 78; he has been pumped for about 50 years!

Robby probably only used a few compounds, with well known safety profiles, came off from time to time, always stayed in the gym, never did anything unusual or experimental. Never got overly huge. Built his body for 20 years then maintained as best as he could for 40 years.

These guys get insanely massive while still amatuers, or worse when not competing at all, never come off, try all soets of shit that no ones ever heard of, then use rec drugs on too of it along with 400 grams of protein a day all in the course of a few years.

The body can compensate a long time. Organs, kidneys, liver do their functions and can handle a little stress for a long time, even with very few detrimental effects. But when you add dozens of anabolics AND rec drugs, AND prescription meds i.e. pain killers, anti inflammatories AND you drink alcohol... the body can only compensate for so much and once it reaches the tipping point it's over.

I'm sure his mom appreciated that. "Mom, if this kidney fails can I get your other one?"

His physique wasn't pretty to say the least but had a freak factor.  On the boards they said he was the peptide monster because he was big into them. He obviously used ALOT of different compounds. I honestly  believe that's the problem.  Back when it was a out training..now these teens are starting on tren n peptides. Weight gain  gradually doesn't blow your gut out like trying to put on 30lbs in a yr does. These kids want to look like mr.o in a year

Definitely had the freak factor, but if it only last 10 minutes what's the point?  As nears I can tell once your kidney goes it's over--even with a transplant.  Guys seem to come back better from muscle tears (Levrone) or jail (Kennelly) than from kidney trouble.  :'(

I'm agreeing with u. I am saying if these guys were more patient and gained muscle over several yrs they could get by with alot less. There's no sense in trying to gain 30lbs of muscle in a yr. U won't last..

Do you know Darren Ball ?
I do & he didn't just gain overnight.
I'll also give him that he did train hard & heavy.
Probably a lot harder & heavier than 99% of bodybuilders.

He doesn't strike me as having that top 1% elite genetics for bodybuilding, and tried to reach thong stardom by abusing his body. Unfortunately his body failed his will.

What does that really mean... and who cares?  Seriously.  Even if it were true, is that supposed to be some sort of accomplishment?  His time on the contest stage was VERY short which makes him look like a flash in the pan.  Does anyone aspire to making a splash for 5 minutes only to burn out and disappear?  How many guys turn that into a sustainable or lucrative career?  I wish him well, but looking back at the cost to his health, lack of a payday, or any kind of staying power one has to wonder if it was all worth it.  Even at his peak his waistline was way out of control.  :'(

Robby never relied on drugs, came off and never got fat.

I never Said he didn't train hard. I'm saying he could have made the gains he did over time with much smaller doses. He obviously was using to much.

Robbie was only on when someone mistakenly left them in their gym bag unattended..
