You keep asking me when I am coming to the UK. I plan to be there in August 2026 studying at St Andrews. I mean it is a year away I have to get through 1st year law prior but it's a 2-week program in the summer. You can take your spouse and everything. I think it would be really cool.

Campbell Law students and faculty regularly participate in Baylor Law School’s Academy of the Advocate in St. Andrews, Scotland. The two-week program focuses on appellate and trial advocacy, including the comparison of techniques used by American and British lawyers. The Academy of the Advocate is organized into three schools – the School of the Appeal, the School of the Trial, and the Advanced School of the Trial.

You have to apply but that is my goal for next summer

Guys - in case you don’t know the military HATES court martial - it’s just not a good look. So whenever possible - all branches do their best to avoid the black mark and give you the option of leaving without one.

How many titanium bolts were in your knees? The minimum score for Special Forces is a 260. I think a 258 on 2 titanium knees is pretty damn good. You know you can win a court martial and get in no trouble at all you can stay in if you were in trouble and given the option and wish to go that route. I was never court martialed. I never had a lawyer. I was never tried or convicted or charged with anything. A general discharge under honorable conditions is not a black mark at all. I am happy to get a 45k scholarship for my service. I was a damn good soldier.

I know this won’t be popular. But I am eternally optimistic and I know that Brian “could” turn his life around. But he is just too spiritually immature. That’s not an insult Brian so don’t cry man. It’s the kind of thing that a real friend would tell you if you had any. I’ve had to be checked by buddies in the past and I’m fckn grateful for it. I’m not much older than you and when I was an early 20’s fckn child I thought I had everything figured out. Then after getting out of the Corps and starting and subsequently losing a business and relationships - and a lot of trouble for thinking that svery problem could be solved by violence - a good friend (a few actually) really let me hear the shit. They honestly should have just told me to fck off but for some reason didn’t.  Then I met my wife and life really changed rapidly.

You are not getting any money for education

The full name of this discharge is, “general discharge under honorable conditions”. It usually means there was something that prevented the service member from performing their job adequately or from meeting expected standards of conduct.

A general discharge still affords the veteran access to most veteran’s programs. In some instances, they may be eligible for VA medical coverage. However, they cannot reenlist and do not have eligibility for the GI Bill.

How much a general discharge affects the individual’s future may depend on the reason listed on the Form DD-214. When a job applicant claims to be a veteran, the employer can ask to see their DD-214 and see the reasons for the discharge. They still have veteran’s hiring preference for federal jobs
