It's only fair.

Arnold is now an amateur again.

It's a money grab, but an exciting one. That being said, there should be 2 classes of cards, IFBB Pro Active and IFBB Pro Retired. Guys like Coleman, Schwarzenegger, etc..... shouldn't be made to compete again, they proved themselves.

Nope, Arnold is out.

He's a nobody again.

He'll have to compete in Novice shows.

they are losing money
You have to pay around $300 a year to get your pro card, some people buy one every year regardless of competing, I know a girl who gets her card every year, she hasnt competed for at least 10 years

Shes a PT, its so she can put IFBB pro on her adverts

At damn near 70, Vince Taylor will definitely turn pro again. He’ll destroy the field at the 2025 NPC Nationals.

Hay it`s a lofty honor, but carries no prestige to the average trainee....a pic on a business card in top shape will mean more to the average person looking to get into shape.

What a waste of money for them if they no longer plan on competing, and the NPC smiles all the way to the bank.

I know they are not a public company for this to be published but this leads to wondering about their revenue breakdown:
1? PRO cards and NPC cards
2? Promoter fees for promoters to run local, national and international contests
3? Online advertising at NPC News and maybe a cut of local promoter advertising? (not sure on this last one)
4? Selling lists of US and world wide members to third parties

There are probably others too. Workshops, etc. other international revenue avenues?

The good news for them is it is hard to see a lot of expense. Looks like they lay the expense off on others, all that comes to mind is small staff in PA, international travel, some web related expense.

Good business model

There are tattoos and then there are amateurish shit ugly tattoos. Fucking tribals and superman logos.

Lee has that dead cheat tissue as awell now.

Not meaning to diss, was a legendary physique. In one clip he viewed some old footage of himself and said he got very emotional. Aging is brutal.

Very little trckles down to the competitors. I know a dude who sys he has to payto get access to the backstage area to coach his  IFBB pro wife. This is at shows where there are 20 people in thev audience, 9 out of 10 are family members. The cost of competing as an amateur especially is absolutely outrageous so of course evveryone deals drugs to cover it. Promote "ugl labs" to get the gear for free.

Money mostly goes to lavish dinners to court various influential people, is my guess

Yes the local promoter business model: milk the athletes and their families. They know they got the athletes’ egos (mainly women these days) on their side and the families (and trainers) get dragged along. Hardly any “other people” pay the high ticket prices at the shows. Maybe a few younger gym fanboys or older schmoes once in a rare while.

Many weird athletes go into a ton of different classes in the same show at great registration expense.

Not many pros who have missed 3  years of competition feel the need to do so again.

I’m not a fan of current bodybuilding.

That said, I do not like how bodybuilders get bossed around like street whores.

The pimps at the top of the NPC/IFBB get some twisted pleasure from changing rules, and bossing around bodybuilders.

“You had better visit me at my gym, and you had better peel for me.... or else!”

Fuck that.

IIRC I believe he did compete in a Beginners contest last year

I hope you see guys stepping onstage in the middle of an offseason just to keep their pro status.  What it will do is decrease the number of guys who are thinking about making a comeback.  I don't see what was wrong with the system we had.  Where is the need for change?
Come get me.
