Mike always trained in a " Power building style" He was first and always a powerlifter. He trained in Columbus Ohio powerlifting gym most of his pre-pro days. He said that even as a pro he still trained like a powerlifter, and adjusted it to a powerbodybuilding style by adding a few more reps. Like Dorian he did low volume, low rep, heavy weight style training. Also someone asked what his best weight was. He was 5'7 260lbs at his hardest and most shredded. After that he got sick. ( Colitis ) Not completely related to bodybuilding. Stress and genetic makeup causes colits. Of course the body is under allot of stress being under 3% bf at 5'7 260. And to think he would have gotten allot bigger ????

I learned a great thing from Mike . Training chest he said to always do your bench press at a 30 degree angle. No more ( shoulders to involved ) no less. He said you will get the most chest development at that angle. 30 degrees hit's your entire chest, both upper and lower perfectly and at the same time. You can also pile on the weight this way too. It worked for me. It sure worked for him !!!
*** There was not one thing on the man that wasn't hard and dense
He would have laughed his ass off at synthol. He was all about power and building a hard physique through hard work !! ****
( You had to see this mans CALVES. ) Holy Sh***T

Exactly Alexx. With the exception of not taking the last set to the extreme or to failure as much as Dorian did.

He was also super clean with his diet. He ate a ton!! but said even that was clean. Mass gaining was all about Red Meat and Russet potatoes.
Tons of it.

Alexx : Right out of the gate from getting his pro card. He won his first two pro shows. Arnold classic Champion, beating an awesome Flex Wheeler to boot.

The one downside to his physique was that his ab separation was not to good. ( A genetic thing).  At least that was the criticism when he competed.

A genetic freak..I saw Mike in 1995 he was out at Gators Gym in Surrey,B.C...I walked in not knowing he was going to be there and it was a unreal sight. He was sooooo thick everywhere with a tiny waste..I remember watching him train back and it just blew my mind.He was a few wks out of a show..I had seen a few pros by then but I had never seen anything like that....
Peace D

I wonder if he could still compete after his colostomy? Would there be any reason he couldn't get competition ready without his colon? I don't know what this would effect, does anyone know?. Francois was awesome even in today's standards.
