Airline Crash - AA Flight colliding with a Black Hawk Helicopter

The traffic information passed to the Blackhawk by the Controller was a little ambiguous, he should've called in the position of the landing jet also, (traffic is left 11 o'clock etc..). The Blackhawk called visual and asked to avoid visually, (he then accepts responsibility for separation).

I believe the Blackhawk pilot was actually visual with another aircraft and therefore looking elsewhere...

As for Trump, well he couldn't wait to make it political which was disappointing to hear and disrespectful to all affected by this accident. He had a point about about recent recruitment "issues" within ATC (made worse due to COVID), however there's a time and a place...

I’m sure the FAA employs some people with learning disabilities in non-critical roles.  Clerical jobs, maintenance roles, custodians, etc.  It’s quite a stretch to attribute blame for this collision to their general presence within the FAA.

Investigators stated that the helicopter was flying on a pre-approved route known as Route 4 and thus was not authorized to fly more than 200 feet above ground. NTSB also informed reporters that air traffic control at Reagan National alerted the helicopter team to the fact that a jet was in their vicinity twice — once at 8:46 p.m. and again at 8:47 p.m. local time — immediately before the crash.

Investigators with the board also noted that the American Airlines flight made a sudden turn upward seconds before the collision, indicating that the pilots may have been alerted to a problem during their final descent into D.C.
