When bodybuilding.com was sold, the new owner closed all its forums. I guess it was too controversial (its content) and not profitable on its own...

Then what is the point of it?  It's just a pay site now for supps or crap?   Granted, I never went over there and never registered but every time I see the name the first thing that I think of was that retard from there that did something (?) and was sentenced to prison and showed up at his court date wearing a bodybuilding.com tshirt.

So, Ron, the Great Manitou of Getbig, the master of all things muscle, the undisputed ruler of the forum, is definitely not the picture of health these days – I mean, he’s a little on the hefty side and, let’s be real, bodybuilding doesn’t seem to be sparking the same fire in him anymore. But what’s going to happen when he eventually kicks the bucket, or when the funds run dry?

There are some folks on Getbig who’ve been posting for decades and others who flaunt their blue stars like they’re royalty. What’s the future for them? Are they all going to spiral into existential despair when their homebase disappears? Or, does Ron have a cunning plan in place for a smooth takeover? Is there some sort of Getbig legacy in the works? Anyone know what's in store for this place when the guy at the helm is no longer with us?

Getbig has built an big audience over the years, with countless users contributing thousands of posts, blue stars, and decades of content. getbig has a loyal user base and remains a prominent forum for those invested in bodybuilding sub culture.
The potential here can be massive – if marketed and branded correctly, Getbig could easily become a lucrative franchise, worth a small fortune.
But here's the kicker: Would Getbig survive if it got too commercialized? If it were stripped of its current sense of community and free speech? Part of its charm is the raw, unfiltered nature of the forum, where opinions flow freely and discussions aren't watered down. Would the essence of Getbig die if it became just another corporate entity? Could it still maintain its authenticity, or would it become a hollow shell of its former self?

But then you'll ban Ethereum posts?! I thought perhaps Gib could offer some BTC, but that still leaves the problem of no potential Ethereum posts allowed! 

Maybe there is a Ron Jr. that can continue the legacy? Or we will all have to bid on it, and the backups needs to be secured. Getbig will be worth a lot less if all posts and usernames are gone and all you have is the domain name and an empty bulletin board.

Extremely difficult to compete with facebook, insta, reddit, X, YouTube, and all other social media

Forums mainly date from the internet beginnings, so before cheap broadband and before handheld internet without data limits
Things have changed, and I'm afraid will never return to the old situation

Bots are definitely slowing down the site, with 25,000 users/bots in an hour, it overwhelms the site.  Working on upgrading some things, but running out of gigabytes here also, with millions of pics/threads/etc.    Upgrading is not as easy at it seems, it takes a long time, and funding for the person helping.  But I still enjoy the site, and the people on it, especially when I meet quite a few at events. 

Will try to figure some things out in the future, after the Arnold Classic in two weeks.   Going to Columbus is always fun....

I don't get it. Forums are much easier to navigate threads/subject matter. I can't stand Facebook, Instagram, or Reddit. X/Twitter is OK but for a totally different purpose. Youtube is awesome but still way different.

I’ve heard about the increasing bot activity on other sites as well. But understandably it is way bigger problem on boards with england as a language.
