My son has a dozen chickens in a pen that measures about 8x10. He lives in a rural location. They lay about 10+ eggs a day at peak season. They eat just about anything he puts in the cage. Quite amazing actually.

After amortizing the cost of the cage and purchase of the chickens he is probably spending about 10 cents an egg.

We had chooks, Basically pets that shit everywhere, we don’t eat much eggs. They were good fun when gardening, they follow you everywhere and when you dig they get into it aswell.

Roosters are banned. Can’t have those because of the crowing.

On topic. I live where eggs come from and while I can always buy eggs, supermarket choices are cut right back. Might get 4 types instead of 12.

This has been going on for quite some time to push up costs and eliminate consumption of animal products altogether.
In Austria 2.2 pounds of a prime cut of organic beef(tenderloin) cost around 101 Euros.

The establishment wants meat gone so that the population is even weaker than before.
