Takes some kind of discipline to be training and competing at 60 plus. I don't see many guys over 60 in my gym so the ones that are there really stand out.  None of them look anything like this guy.

I'd go as far as to say 60 is the new 40, based on what I've seen in my baseball endeavors.

It really is even among non bodybuilders. Watch TV shows from the 60's and 70's. Guys in their 40's looked like guys in their 70's today.

true, they all smoked, drank and used copious amounts of drugs. see oliver reed, richard harris, richard burton, marlon brando and the list goes on. exercise and diet was something they might do before an upcoming movie.

 Guy looks great

I could be wrong but I'd guess he works out with moderate weight. Probably follows a classic old school routine (4 sets of 10 with the last set almost to failure) has been consistent with his diet for years and Probably only used mild/moderate doses in his youth.

He's probably stayed in good enough health that he can compensate nicely when he preps for a contest now.

I am enjoying the last good years now. Mid 50's knowing each year is closer to the beginning of the end.  I hope to still be living out my mid life crisis well into my mid 60s.  After that I imagine it will be a sharp downhill run.

I'm right there with you at 52.

I saw a guy at the gym today that I stop and bullshit with from time to time.  I always thought he was in his late 60s,  maybe 70 at most. Turns out he's 82. Now, he doesn't look he was ever very muscular and he's not now, he said he only started working out in his 70's. I asked him what keeps him so young. He said he's just always tried to enjoy life. Tried not to stress out about shit. Take it easy, go with the flow sort of thing. If something feels good, do it... as long as it's not hurting anyone. And he never worried about getting old because nothing can stop it. He looked at me when I told him I was 52 and just laughed "Ahhh, You're still just a kid! You got a lot longer than you think before you have to start worrying about your age."

Perspective.

The guy this post is about has a phenomenal physique - better than 95% of the male population regardless of age. he is in the 99.9999% for 60 plus year olds. Truly incredible.

I'll bet a lot of it comes from the fact that he just enjoys lifting. At the end of the day that's why most of us do it. Why stop if its fun?
