Protein Powder - Best value?
« on: March 25, 2025, 05:35:55 PM »
Where do you cats buy your protein powder? Yeh I know it’s fast powder and all the other dumbass jokes - lol. My wife and I eat ridiculously clean and neither of us eats a ton anymore, so we end up drinking a shit load of protein. Wife is a wizard in the kitchen and can make clean food taste like chest meals and her protein shakes taste like fckn milkshakes. I just want to find a source for good quality and decent price

I'm not in the US but I would go with a "raws" seller. Much more likely the product is what it says it is. Sometimes you can even figure out who the manufacturer is. The bodybuilders on forums talk about Dante Doggcrapp's company. I have bought unflavored whey and milk isolate at the pharmacy here, from some pharmaceutical brands. More trust.

Any recommendations on gas stations?  What gas station has the best price per gallon? 🙄

Online: Muscle & Strength

In-person: Vitamin Shoppe (clearance sales.....just picked up 2.5-lb jug of Hexatein-SR yesterday for $10).

Also, I shop at a local “grocery liquidator” store that sells nearly expired protein powder for $10 or less.

Really, you are wasting your money buying protein powder.

The need for it is a very successful marketing gimmick.

Fart powders are marketing hype. Buyers often are desperate and insecure people who want to look like their chemical "heroes". Eat normal and avoid processed foods if possible. Drugs make you "big", not fart powders. Just let go of the mental trap that you need x grams protein per kg or lbs of body weight per day.

Imo best to spend money on organic vegetables, fruits, eggs, fish and meat. Just my 2c

Goddamn guys - I am not asking “which protein will make me get big muscles” lol

My base diet is whole food. I just dont have time to always eat a meal and I ain’t carrying little Tupperware around (although I confess when I was competing a lot in the 90’s I did - 😆)

All I was asking was if anyone had a good source of not shitty tasting - inexpensive protein. I’m not stupid guys - I know it’s not the fart powder that makes big muscles… it’s the HMB !!! 😂

I appreciate all of the unsolicited- unwanted - unnecessary advice though. After 40 years of training I am still open to learning.

Protein powder is fucking food. I will never understand why most others make up these fake categories of supplement vs food when it comes to protein powder. It suggests a feeble mind  ??? ::) :D

There's nothing wrong with utilizing protein powers, and Marvin is well versed in all this shit, especially expectations around results and stuff.

So, given that, my answer is to check slickdeals. net all the time, and look for deals on myprotein .com - they have deals frequently, and I used to get 11lbs of it for like 60 bucks.  It's all third party tested, etc

The one I used has only these ingredients:

Whey Protein Isolate, Cocoa, Lecithin, Sea Salt, Stevia Leaf Extract.

As far as powders go, I think that's pretty good.

Was going to write the same thing bingo the one I just started buying doesn’t have Stevia it uses a coconut sugar. The issue with protein powders and I’ve researched recently cause I like to use them once in a while in between or after a workout is that my stomach was getting crapped out all the time just gas bloating I couldn’t figure out what it was what chemical I had to be something they’re all laced with either sucralose or other fillers that are all crap Like xanatham gum and guar gum thing what the hell they’re all binders they do something but I don’t think it’s good for your stomach

The -gums are fiber and that's what can cause the bloating just like if you eat bran.

They are indigestible by humans and sit in the large intestine and ferment creating the gas and bloat.

They are used as thickeners.

Samesies. Don’t want to one-up you, but is it grass-fed whey?  :D

Whey don't eat

However, no.

While I do choose the grass fed option for meats whenever possible, I'm drawing the line here.
