Coke is a brand name so you'd only say that if you were drinking one or asking for one.
Here's another good one, what do you call a big sandwich? A hoagie, hero, sub, grinder, or something else?I've always gone with sub.
As a kid we called them grinders forever, even as adults.............this was in Mass........never heard them called that anywhere else. When I lived in Florida I asked for a grinder and the proprietor said........"Grinder,you must be from Connecticut" !I said.... "Close, about a half hour from Hartford".Anyway,I still think of them as grinders but I call them subs here or nobody would know WTF I was asking for.
I say both soda and pop. This map explains why. Pop and Coke started strong, but soda has taken over. What do you say?
We called it soda where I come from......I grew up with a kid from Philly and he and his brothers called it pop, and a kid I knew from Ohio called it "tonic" !!!
I say it exactly like Shooter
A friend of mine was in Manhattan after working overnight I think or something like that where he was exhausted the next morning.Behind him he hears a random guy say “you’re killing yourself” and when he turned around it was this actual guy and he chatted with him for second.
