Luz María Barrera Agatón, a renowned Mexican bodybuilder and beauty influencer, was found dead in a hotel swimming pool in Motul, Quintana Roo., near Cancun. Authorities are investigating her death, considering potential foul play due to past threats against her and her gym. She had been vacationing with family and friends at the Coco Resort & Villas Hotel, located west of Cancun. Earlier in the evening, she had been seen socializing around the cenote-style pool before allegedly retiring to her room around midnight. She competed at the 2017 Olympia Amateur contest in Spain.
