I don't find the Max Headroom mystery to be very interesting. 

I would have swapped it out for the Malaysia Flight 370, Dyatlov Pass, or Walter Collins - which is bizarre to say the least as the mother lost her son, the police caved to public  pressure for not finding him and instead brought her a new child and insisted it was her son, she knew it wasn't and rather than admitting they fucked up the police instead claimed she was a poor mother and committed her to a psych ward.

For sure.  That family is probably responsible for her death.  This is what I posted in the past :

I would think the Mother killed her.  JonBent probably had a moment (it was Christmas after all) where she didn't live up to that God status her mother kept pushing her to achieve.  Most likely was acting like an ordinary kid or something and her mother lashed out at her.

Second guess would be the Father.  Arguing with her mother about lack of attention or whatever he finally got the balls to stand up for, he probably fell victim to a blind rage from years of emotional distance, feeling invisible and mental abuse from her and snapped.  After not getting a reaction or whatever he wanted from the mother (narcissistic ignorance on her part) he probably targeted the only way he could hurt her and get a reaction.  And that was through the child.  Not intending to kill his daughter but it happened.  Once it was over and the mother realized that with him in jail, her pretty-pretty easy-easy lifestyle was over, she helped cover up for it.

I think the son saw the whole thing and was bullied into submission and keeping quiet.
