16 Billion Passwords Leaked

What could go wrong?

16 BILLION PASSWORDS LEAKED: APPLE, GOOGLE, FACEBOOK USERS EXPOSED

What’s being called the largest password leak in history has just been confirmed: 16 billion login credentials, many from major platforms like Apple, Google, Facebook, GitHub, and more, are now exposed and circulating.

Researchers say the leak comes from 30 separate datasets, most of it new, not recycled.

And it’s not just usernames and passwords... URLs, emails, and full login sequences are included.

This isn’t just a breach. It’s a blueprint for mass phishing, account takeovers, and digital identity theft at global scale.

“This is fresh, weaponizable intelligence at scale,” said researchers.
And it’s live now.

Act fast. Stay ahead. Or get locked out.

I have so many accounts and passwords. Can they provide a list so we know who is affected?

Who here changes their passwords frequently or semi-frequently? I don't, although my antivirus informs me my passwords leaked :D

If you have different passwords everywhere, how do you remember them all? Anyone use a password generator? I don't sell stuff on the darknet so I'm not paranoid :D

So I have a chance of one in 16 billion that they are going to hack my email account?

The chance of getting murdered or winning the jackpot is way higher

I definitely don’t. My wife has a pretty important job in finance and she has passwords to a shit ton of government / state / banking sites that she has to have lo gin and password. I’m pretty sure she changes each of them every other month. She has a pretty good system - but there is no freaking way I would have that kind of dedication

My E-Mail (Outlook) got hacked like 2 years ago, my Facebook got hacked like 3 years ago - who gives a flying f*ck, just make a new account and tell everyone.

On all banking and governmental stuff I got 2FA anyways, so they can't do sh*t.

Yeah, most have nothing to worry about. It still sucks though.

I use the same password on pretty much everything. I have never had a problem. Too much effort to remember more than one.

I do slightly different everywhere, then when I want to log in I have to change it and make a new one, what a pain in the ass. I do have a notebook where I tried to write down my passes but too lazy most of the time :D

Thanks for the link. My email passwords are never the same as sites that I logged onto. I quickly checked my main email and it was "compromised" three times the past few years. But I think it was just a third party hack of mobile or merchant sites.

Let's say your email is: johndoe@gmail.com, and password 12345678
You create an account on Netflix with the exact same email and password.
Netflix is hacked.
The first thing the hacker will do is try that password on gmail. Once they get in, they change the password and security questions along with date of birth etc. to lock you out of your account. So it is not a good idea to use the same password everywhere. I save passwords in ewallet. But I am also lazy and save some passwords in Chrome because it is so convenient. That is very insecure of course.

I will probably start changing passwords of my accounts 1 by 1. Will have to keep track of what I changed so I don't do it twice.
