Masks - why are people still wearing them
« on: July 25, 2025, 10:19:05 AM »
I literally cannot believe some people are still wearing masks, those useless blue diaper ones. I called someone a retard with one on today. It doesnt matter what your reason is, they make zero difference

If they do nothing,  why do surgeons etc wear them?
Of course if someone farted near you and your wearing one your still gonna smell it, so what's the deal?

Surgeons wear them to avoid contaminating the patient with spit, not to protect themselves.

"Anyone wearing paper masks outside is a retard"

"What if they're immuno-compromised?"

"If they're legit immuno-compromised and trusting their health and safety to a paper mask, they're double retards."

It depends.  Some people wear them to avoid getting others sick, especially if they have a cold or have covid (which is still around now but mildly).   If you are coughing and sick, by all means, wear a mask.  Does not bug me to the least, to each his own.   Sometime, someone wearing a fanny pack bugs me more.

Don’t give LurkerNoMore any ideas.  That bastard thinks about that subject day and night. He might try to start another thought provoking thread about ‘em.

maks were the governments way of monitoring peoples compliance

It was easy to see who were capable of being controlled.
Once they saw the majority wearing masks they knew they could simply up the fear (new variants) and make people jump.

I've never wore a mask only forcibly in the hospital during covid, but I think in most people's cases it's a good thing.

The human immune system does not work as advertised - but there's little money to be made from a self contained and, to a certain degree, self healing hull.

In Japan people who have an infectious disease, flu or similar, wear masks to protect others. And to prevent the virus from spreading. Very smart, protects other people and their economy.
Here in Holland surgeons, but also dentists wear masks, their assistants too.

https://www.surgery.com.au/why-do-surgeons-wear-masks/

"Surgeons wear surgical masks to shield the patients from droplet transmissions, infections, and contamination. These also protect the sterile environment of the operating room including all of the professionals who work there routinely."

https://www.usfra.org/groups/PoliticallyIncorrect/blogs/well-if-masks-dont-work-then-why-do-surgeons-wear-them

"Although surgeons do wear masks to prevent their respiratory droplets from contaminating the surgical field and the exposed internal tissues of our surgical patients, that is about as far as the analogy extends. Obviously, surgeons cannot "socially distance" from their surgical patients (unless we use robotic surgical devices, in which case, I would definitely not wear a mask)."

The forced masking was a huge gift to criminals. Before you couldn't for example walk into a bank wearing a mask. Masking in public places was uncommon, sometimes forbidden, especially in the dead of night. Now...?

Like funk, I only ever wore one briefly in hospitals. Was getting a lot of dirty looks on public transport. Sweden had some of the most lax laws on masking, thankfully. The Chinese were so ethnonationalist and collectivist that they bought masks here when Covid appeared and sent them to China! The very first to mask at the tram stops I was at were Asian looking people. Chinese supposedly successfully contained the virus there, much better outcome than the US and other countries, they implemented very draconian measures, supposedly even welding peoples' houses so they couldn't get out LOL. And everyone fell into line immediately with the masking, it was the collectivist thinking, vs our more individualistic societies, for better or for worse, peoples' opinons differ on this...
