Seems like an honest en true review. The climate must really suck. And gets even worse with climate change / heating up of our planet. 50 degrees celsius or 122 fahrenheit is becoming less exceptional. If your AC brakes down, it well get tricky.
The pollution what he states is something you never see on the cliche insta photos.

My brother and his nasty bitch gf were in Dubai and she got out of control drunk screaming and fighting my bro. A group of guys in suits came up to them and just said, "you behave here, understand?" I don't think you want to go to jail there :D

I didn't know Dubai had such a bad air quality before I watched that video. Sounds like pure hell combined with the hot summers and no side walks, so you have to drive everywhere.

When he talked about those networking meet ups in Dubai, where everyone with a Rolex day date said to him: "So what do you do, bro?" - I can pretty lively imagine the superficial nature of those people networking in Dubai.

I understand why most people go there for five year to build a tax free nest egg and then leave.

It is pretty bad: 43 degree celsius in the summer. I heard that many people are not there in the 6 summer months. I don't know how many months you have to be there per year in order to be tax exempt and have Dubai tax status.

I thought they had a dry desert climate. Skyhigh temperatures with high humidity is like living in a steamsauna.

Dubai has had sewer problems for many years:

Gibraltar is much better as a tax haven. Nice less extreme climate, great hinterland: Andalucia.
And you only have to be there 30 days per year, and not even necessary that those 30 days are in a row. Just 30 days all over a calenderyear. And everyone speaks English, plus they drive on the right side of the road.
Great sea views from everywhere too, and nice waterside restaurants, marinas, shops, and The Rock has a great and interesting history. And in contrast to Monaco its own airport.

You'll find debauchery and cretinism in every large city around the world if you search for it; Dubai is far from unique in that regard. The air pollution issue he mentions is fair enough, and I suppose if one is the type of person who needs a varied social life and large circle of friends, other places might offer better opportunities for that but he could also just explore life outside of his work groups.

I'd still much rather live in Dubai over the UK, though. I really dislike visiting here these days. The capricious weather alone is depressing enough, but I no longer feel any connection at all to where I grew up. It's a morose, dark and demoralized hell-hole, where drunken half-wits and hopeless drug addicts roam around harassing people with impunity. I feel myself morphing further into Travis Bickle every day that I'm here.

I'm ashamed of our government, I'm ashamed of our public services, and I'm horrified by the fact that we've allowed ourselves to become an apathetic society where kids are left to grow feral. It feels like we celebrate and encourage ignorance. Every other flaw of Dubai is perhaps worth tolerating just to have a civilized public and a police force that doesn't turn a blind eye to petty crime. Granted, I am feeling particularly negative these days, though, and I might just do better in the remote countryside as opposed to the city.

The Middle East heat is indeed brutal, but it's bearable if you have air conditioning. I'm used to extreme temperatures now, but I am growing more concerned about skin cancer as I get older and come to the realization that I've nuked my face.

I find that the UK is becoming more polarised and unequal, which is an attribute that historically was always there and whose direction either reversed (post-WWII) or progressed (80s-present) in various times.

Post-2008 is when the wheels started coming apart, the Cameron austerity of the 2010s, then Brexit, Covid and Ukraine only made things worse.

There is a noticeable divide between North/South that was always there but is becoming worse than ever in my opinion. There are many nice places in the South East that are pristine, clean, quiet, leafy, very civilized and very, very expensive and then just a few miles away you have veritable shit holes with shootings, murders, etc.

People will blame immigration because it is convenient although not entirely untrue but the real culprit is inequality, declining standards of living, shrinking incomes, etc.

the issue in the uK is its a fucking tax haven for corporations.

Nike pays LESS THAN 0.01% in tax to the uk
Amazon pays 18m in tax on 27bn - 0.001%

if amazon was paying what standard corporations paid it would be looking at about 6bn pa. nike would be about 2bn

so an easy 8bn there

add in the estimated 20bn on tax evasion we could claw back and 13.bn in direct corporation tax avoidance

so 41bn.

and not an immigrant in sight.

we've been sold bullshit by the rich- its not the immigrants who are screwing us its the upper class and rich

I am surprised any British guy would want to go to Dubai, let alone live there.  British are known for drinking alcohol.  And Dubai has some really tight restrictions on where you can buy and where you can drink.  (Certain places and with certain permits).
