Low carb vs low fat?
« on: August 23, 2025, 05:45:20 AM »
I suspect this topic has been discussed many times in the past, but what calorie deficit diet works best for you personally when preparing for a competition or while being shredded?

If you want to lose fat, get lean but be flat, go low carb. Many health benefits with low carb.

If you want to feel full, build muscle but eat bland and struggle with hunger pangs, then go low fat. Problem with carbs is they aren't satiating and cause cravings that will cause you to spill over.

Eat what the fuck you want, exercise hard, remain at 18% BF and make a thread complaining about it every once in a while.

Here's my macro breakdown to go from 9% to 6% in 4-5 weeks

Protein: 95 g → 380 kcal

Fat: 54 g → 486 kcal

Carbs: 113 + 25 = 138 g → 552 kcal

Total Calories ≈ 1,418 kcal

---

Updated Percentages

Protein: 380 ÷ 1,418 ≈ 27%

Fat: 486 ÷ 1,418 ≈ 34%

Carbs: 552 ÷ 1,418 ≈ 39%

I already know that a low-carb diet works best for me when I'm cutting. I was curious about other people's preferred approach. I know some people can't imagine training with low carbs and follow Chris Aceto's advice.

There was a gentleman on this forum once named Disgusting. For example, he prepared King Kamali for competitions. He claimed that he told all his clients to eat low-carb or zero-carb, and they all achieved the best results of their lives.

nah not really, increase sodium and you keep fullness and vascularity

I do low everything now

I eat 1 meal a day and a snack

I eat probably a quarter of what I used to eat and its hardly made any difference

Chris Aceto's advice sucks. Bagels with jam and a slice of fat free cheese. Yuk.
