Stop, the average person is kind dumb, half the population is dumber then that.

I think the public health aspect was handled poorly, they should of let up faster with restrictions. I don't think the vaccination was at all and I don;'t think the severity- at least initially was wrong.

You really are an arrogant person.  You're not nearly as smart as you think you are.  I would never walk around thinking the average person I meet is dumb.  You must be great at parties . . . .

But let me try this again.  You questioned why the CDC would lie:

Or is there another reason they would outright lie?

You previously said certain lies are fine:

I agree the thing was potentially handled poorly, I do think that when it comes to public safety certain lies are fine.

Given that you believe it is appropriate for a government agency to lie to the public, don't come on here clutching your pearls over the CDC lying to the public.  That's why you should sit this one out.

Meltdown lol

It's a riff on a George Carlin joke you crotchety old bag. Come off your high horse ffs. I'll teach you about anatta if you like? Being a Christian I am sure you have engaged in its equivalent of kenosis right? mr. humble.

It's funny. I never comment on my intelligence yet you and others constantly do it for me, wonder why that is? feeling insecure maybe?

Its fine to lie in the sense that you don't have to provide nuance when making statements about these things. You come to a general consensus that covers the most ground even though in technically may be untrue. I don't see things as inherently bad or good, it would depend on the context and timeline. I think with things like this you have to make judgement calls.

It's like fluoride in water, its mostly good, so my stance would be its good. There is evidence that it has some negative effects but for public health it's likely best to utilize it and suggest its a overall good- that may vary individually but on a population level it flattens.

Spot on Dos 👊🏻

He's another like Prime believing they're so much more intelligent & know more
Than everyone else 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yet in reality they've no common sense & are so easily fooled & lead by these
Organisations & Government- they have a very hard time thinking out the box
& or questioning what they see authority figures.

Leave them to it - they'd both argue black is white if CDC / WHO etc told them
& there were some scam papers published  - they totally. Ignore all the obvious
Signs it was all pre-planned set up to kill off a lot of elderly & sick frail people.

Do you consider Donald Trump to be an authority figure? Have you or would you ever question him or his actions? If you have, it has not been in the political forum on Getbig as best as I can tell.

Oh so you're just joking about most people being dumb?  If so, your sense of humor sucks.  lol

Lying by a government agency, particularly as it relates to public health, is not ok.  They should tell the truth.  Let the public decide how to mitigate risk based on the truth.  They shouldn't, for example, lead people to believe that six feet of social distancing is based on science, when the actual number is like thirty feet or more.

Can you give me some examples of your questioning Trump or his actions? Somehow, I missed seeing or reading this.

Trump is not my president. I have no respect for him or anything he has done.

I may or may not have questioned President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden. I do not question them today because what they do does not affect me. I questioned the Democratic party's choosing VP Kamala Harris to run for President when they did.

What I have not done is to make up childishly insulting names for them or for Trump. Is this something you learned to do from Donald Trump?

You just take the childish position that Trump is not your president.  A distinction without a difference.

Again its a joke from carlin

You know, a world famous comedian. Being dumb is relative of course, not absolute. So depending on how high your IQ is (I sense yours is average to slightly above) you would find less people "dumb" than me. Seeing as my reference went over your head, this fits.

There is no truth when it comes to matters like these. I think we have a fundamentally different way of viewing the world. Truth is an interpretation. You get all this data and it appears that its likely true that something is the case, but there is never certainty. I would consider being weighing the options and if white lies are needed which have an overall beneficial effect, so be it. We all do it all the time, all of us.

You can't let the public decide how to mitigate risk when they don't understand the issue at hand. I rely on experts all the time and if I was given all the information I would still not be able to make a decision because I don't know what I don't know.

It's like saying give me the facts of the case and I will decide the best course of action legally, it's not wise and its not wise to allow people without proper education decide public health. I understand the slippery slope this creates, but I can't see a better answer that has the most good in mind.

We all agree to forego things in the name of societal interests, like driving a car whilst only sober, doing water conservation when needed etc.

This data on distancing you are referring to, was this the case when they made the claim or was it in retrospect?

Oh please.  You are just an arrogant person who thinks too highly of himself.  I have no idea what my IQ is (or yours) and only an insecure arrogant person would try and predict someone's IQ based on comments on a message board.  And only an uninformed person would limit an intelligence assessment to IQ, rather than IQ plus emotional intelligence.  But we are different.  I don't ever try and pretend like I'm the smartest person in the room or that people I meet are dumb.  That's your territory.  Sad existence.

Regarding social distancing, the deception is pretty remarkable.  They knew at the time they were deciding social distancing that it was not 6 feet.  I said 30.  It might have been closer to 60?  I cannot remember exactly, but they knew it was not 6 feet.  They picked 6 feet because that is what they thought they could sell to the public.  Absolutely outrageous.

I am going to need you to provide some evidence for your claims on the distancing, sounds like an opinion on what they did and why to me. You wouldn't be talking out of your ass would you?

Classic projection.  I have to say, in all sincerity, I have the privilege of being around a lot of very smart people and you do not impress me.

Wait a minute.  I totally forgot about this.  LOL!!!!!   ;D  A smart person would have (a) never made such a stupid post and/or (b) admitted they were wrong.

Oh Hai,

For those of you who don't know, beach bum is iwantmass, they use the same terminology (the fucking exact), the same exact arguments, both live in Hawaii (or alaska, a very very specific part), as they have the same local time. You have a mod using a gimmick to attack members, he even calls members names.

As a mod on get big you won't find me personally insulting, using gimmicks or generally obfuscating conversation on the nutrition board, if I disagree i simply attack the information. On other boards, sure i let loose, but that's the point he is unfit to be a mod.

I will step down as Nutrition Mod if He is not removed.

Regarding 6 feet of social distancing not being based on science, no I'm nothing like you.  I don't just make stuff up.  Here is one quote.  You can do some homework to find other sources.

The Washington Post: In The Pandemic, We Were Told To Keep 6 Feet Apart. There’s No Science To Support That.
“It sort of just appeared, that six feet is going to be the distance,” Fauci testified to Congress in a January closed-door hearing, according to a transcribed interview released Friday. Dr. Anthony Fauci characterized the recommendation as “an empiric decision that wasn’t based on data.” Francis S. Collins, former director of the National Institutes of Health, also privately testified to Congress in January that he was not aware of evidence behind the social distancing recommendation, according to a transcript released in May
