Number of Gyms?
« on: September 10, 2025, 05:35:28 AM »
Hankins was kicked out of at least one (and then welched on what he owed).

DJ appears to also have been kicked out of his gym probably for same reason, being broke.

This got me thinking about how many gyms I've regularly trained in since i first started regularly training.  I mean regularly trained at as your home base gym, not a hotel or one off here and there for a visit.

Starting with the weight room under the stairs of the football stadium, progressing at some point through Gold's Venice (a few times), I think I'm now on gym 18.

None have I ever been kicked out of.

4 total in 30 years of training.. my favorite gym was a snap fitness that was across the street from my apt complex way back.. seemed i always had the place to myself early morning... owner was cool, i could crank the music, tv, free water... couldnt beat the location..

Correction 19, one gym changed owners and locations to a few doors down, but it was very different layout than original

YMCA, NYSC, and World’s gym were my first three during the 90’s and 00’s.

I forget the other ones and now my gym in Fl is Anytime Fitness.

I've been lucky to go to some great gyms.

North West Mecca- home of Nathan de Asha- best gym and atmosphere i've trained in
Muscle mechanics- Liverpool
Gym 21- Liverpool - former Mr Universe Billy Jones gym
O'Malleys Warrington- home to Walter o Malley and i saw Frank Richards train there
Valhalla, Wrexham- I knew former mr Wales Dennis Phoenix- this gym was underneath Wrexham FC's ground. Cracking place and some real characters training there
Flex gym- Wrexham- guy called Paul Arrowsmith great NW HW competitor
Dowe Dynamics- Archway london- trained with Ian Dowe a few times, Andrulla Blanchette used to trian there she was a really sound person
Muscleworks, Bethnal Green, London- Savs gym- pro's like Brian Buchanan, JD Dowadu, Jamo Nezzar, Rob Wall, Lenny St Cyr, Eddie Abbew all trained there. Great gym and everyone was helpful.
Skyline- Catford, London- womens pro Kimberley Anne Jones gym- she was and still is a great coach and a friend of over 20 years. Introduced us to iris kyle and loads of other pro's over the years and could leave most men in the ditch training.

I've been lucky to train at all of the above. I love the camaraderie of the gym. i've never so much as been told off let alone banned largely because I dont act like a complete Hankins when out and treat everyone with respect.

Probably 15 different gyms as I've lived in different cities. Never been kicked out of one. And I've only heard of a handful of people getting kicked out of any that I've been in. One guy for getting into an altercation with another regular. Another guy was never a member himself but had been walking in like he owned the place and nobody ever checked to see if he was actually a paying member. He pulled that off for about 2 years  ;D

3 since 92 😊, 4 if you count the gym at my workplace.

This third one is a chain that allows you to use different locations.
