How many here heard the Rod Stewart stomached pumped rumor back in the day?  I remember some graffiti on the school bus around that time that said "Rod gets rod".

scottish band from back then - jesus and mary chain. earlier stuff shat on the later stuff from a great height and although massive fame might have eluded them by some standards they arguably were one of the biggest influences on the shoegaze era. more recent scottish band - not quite top 40 - peatbog faeries from the hebrides (skye iirc, my family are from lewis a generation or two back on both sides)

Didn't expect that to ever pop up on getbig (used to love Ride vapour trail)

Also other good scottish indie bands of that era: Primal Scream, teenage fanclub. And Waterboys "whole of the moon" was a bit earlier but worthy of mention

charlatans, carter usm, neds atomic dustbin, pop will eat itself. i met the guys from neds when they came to a club I ran the door of back in the 90s. Same venue resulted in me babysitting blur one saturday night. Vapour trail is a fucking timeless classic, fond memories of leave them all behind too. teenage fanclub is another one from the era. Not uk but Iwas a bit fond of the sugar cubes too

Going Blank Again is an underrated album, good Andy bell landed on his feet with oasis (Keep the Dream Alive' works well with Liam's vocals)

no shit they were absolutely no dramas at all. I forget who did what, but remember one just drank like a fish, one was coked off his head (but could handle it without being a fuckwit) and the other just did a sort of introspective mind their own business vibe despite being who they were and having most of the girls at the club that night wanting to breed them.

Another memory of back then was when Courtney love and Hole toured. They were rehearsing at a venue I worked at to play that weekend, and Courtney was there and I spotted what I can only describe as a stunningly gorgeous young blonde girl hanging around with her. Suddenly realised I was about a metre away from what was probably an 16-18 year old Drew Barrymore. She really looked quite something back then. NFI what she's like now. Courtney on the other hand whilst not an arsehole was a complete fucking mess on god knows what (allegedly heroin) and apparently was on the nod during the rehearsals and stumbled over more than once.

I genuinely miss the 90s
