And that's always the dilemma. One heavyweight bb recently asked me what he could do to reduce his gut and I said there's nothing to be done other than lose weight and muscle.
Coach Tuor tried to do it with that one short French pro, had him clean out completely, stop all drugs, and lose most of his size and then carefully build back up but if I'm not mistaken he dropped out of the sport. Anyone know who I'm talking about?

Edit. Nicolas Vullioud is the guy, apparently he's a coach now and he actually quit due to heart problems.

It was said at the time that Nicolas got off everything to reduce his gut and was then to rebuild slowly while keeping gut in check. The real reason seems to have been Ejection Fraction was bad, now reportedly functioning at 100% which is very possible, it can bounce back as it did for me, but he doesn't dare add those extra 30lbs again.

Now a coach, realistically, what can he do for a competitor? Probably has a few alleged top comp clients to lure in real paying customers, the usual guru grift. Send generic plans, do pic check-ins every other week, cash the money.

I've (genuinely) learned a lot in this place, and the first time I heard about that was a John Meadows video someone posted.  IIRC his EF was down to 30%?  Then claimed it had climbed back up again - we all now what happened next unfortunately  :-\

Mine was down to 25% when measured at hospital recovering from Covid. They said this is not all Covid, it's steroids too, which was true. Recovering my left ventricular wall thickness reduced in size and EF was up to almost normal after a year even though I still took testosterone. So the heart can recover some although the weakness will likely remain there so if you don't change things around like lose weight, reduce doses of roids as well as GH and so on you could quickly have problems again.

From what I can recall Johns EF didn't improve, but he was still training, claiming he felt good and living the bodybuilder life. Those of us who know a bit about EF said he wasn't making the best decisions and we know how that turned out..

The short guy is really jacked, but his proportions looks strange and weird overall.

Lee Priest could be the standard for a short guy.

Maybe this is why Lee didn’t try to make his lats and back so big.

I've been tested a number of times, last time about 6 weeks ago I had MR imaging and echo was cancelled; they said I don't need it. It's stayed the same the past 5 years or so.

I've taken steroids again but at much reduced dosages. Trying to avoid water retention and listening to my body as I can actually sort of feel my EF by my breathing and so on. A persistent cough or catching pneumonia would be bad signs as well, indicating possible or probable heart failure. Blood pressure meds and frequent BP cuff monitoring. I'm mentally addicted to steroids and I can't imagine life with zero test after using steroids for decades; so I assume some risk which I'm very aware of, no excuses. At the same time, having a 'weak constitution' is also a mortality risk factor so it's a bit of a Catch-22 with regards to TRT or HRT+ or ++ 8)

I probably should check to see if I have sleep apnea, especially since I was snoring at hospital a few days ago. New guy in the room said, oh no, I can't be in this room with this guy but lucky for him I was just checking out :D

As I recall he didn't get much time after the MI. He was taking 200mg of test via prescription and then he got news from his doc while live on the tube where his doc said the lower part of his heart wasn't moving, it was dead. So the question is if the test had much to do with him dying, I'd guess he was close to dead regardless but I'm not a heart doc.

This one guru named Alex Kikel claims he has reversed dozens of cases of low EF and left ventricular hypertrophy in bodybuilders. His first course of action is to drop steroids to just 2mg per kilo of test a week. Then a huge polypharmacy experiment on top to attempt to help the heart.

Meadows sought out a doctor who would nod and agree with him. He had plenty of time to down size. Even if all that did was buy him a couple of extra years, it would have been worth it as he had a young kid. He chose not to even try.

There is a big association between sleep apnea, heart failure, and afib. Do get tested and treatment if you can. They have ways to treat the sleep apnea besides the mask if you can't tolerate the mask.

That's true, of course he was addicted to the shell, I understand it very well. But as it is it's hard to say the test at that point shortened his life as the dead part would never recover and that doctor reveal must have been tough. I think both his parents had died earlier than him due to CV issues. Shame for the kid for sure. My heart doc referred me to an endo with experiene with steroid abusers to discuss test replacement but the endo said my case would take up too much of his time and referred me to a clinic far away for clomid restart therapy :-[ I do remember the doc said Anavar and Proviron were safe LOL. A few years later I heard he lost his license for over-prescribing Nebido testosterone. Had treated users for like 3 decades, often with HCG for restarts.

Meadows had passion for helping others, bodybuilding was just his chosen outlet. He was a good man, and a friend to the sport and will be saluted for all time as a legend who we lost too soon. RIP

I am very interested to learn more about sleep apnea and heart failure. Would using a cpap help a heart failure patient? Shoe on other foot, would someone with heart failure and sleep apnea be worse off by not using their cpap?
