Inside the Antifa siege on ‘war zone’ Portland
« on: October 01, 2025, 04:17:53 PM »
https://nypost.com/2025/10/01/us-news/inside-the-antifa-siege-on-war-zone-portland-and-the-resistance-to-the-national-guard-cleaning-it-up/

Violent Antifa criminals have laid siege to the ICE detention center in Portland, Oregon, for over 100 days.

Every night the encampment of wackos – some dressed as a unicorn or a chicken – blast loud music, engage in anti-government chants over loudspeakers and megaphones, and when they violently clash with law enforcement officers it reverberates around the neighborhood.

Since the protest started on June 2, neighbor Cloud Elvengrail has barely slept. Assaulted and bullied by the Antifa goons, she describes the area as a “war zone” and “terrifying.”

The ICE headquarters in Portland is a short term detention center with a maximum of 15 detainees who cannot be held there longer than 12 hours with no overnight stays. The facility is in a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood. One of the main commercial properties is OHSU medical offices.
It is understandable that neighborhood folks are upset by the disturbance. I know I would be if I lived there. However, to call it a "war zone" is an over-statement made by someone who likely has no idea what a war zone looks and sounds like.

Cloud Elvengrail has good reason to take issue with this because she sued the city and lost. ‘Judge rules in favor of city after woman sues Portland over ICE facility noise.’ Cloud sought to compel the city to enforce its noise ordinances to stop "weaponized noise" from the demonstrations. She lives a Gray's landing which is low to moderate income affordable rental housing and is literally across the street from ICE headquarters.

Residential high-rise condos and town houses nearby sell for as much as $3 million to $4 million. I imagine some of these property owners have a lot more influence than Cloud does – because as we all know money talks.

Here is a news video taken yesterday afternoon at Portland ICE headquarters. Note that the reporter says that teargas is sprayed on protestors who arrive around 6:00 pm and into the evening. For a war zone, this area sure cleans up nicely by the next day leaving no evidence of anything resembling a war zone.

Yeah, arrest the journalist, not the people that assaulted him. Portland police are complicate in supporting antifa and crime in general. The whole government of Portland needs to be scrubbed and restarted with fresh people that will uphold the law.

What I see in the video you posted is a whole lot of ICE 'police' running around out front of the Portland ICE headquarters violently tackling protesters and knocking them to the ground. It looks to me like there are more ICE police than there are protesters. FYI, protesting ICE is not illegal.

Yep we guessed you'd be there with the Lefty Loonies protesting.

When I drove by the Portland ICE facility on September 26th there were no people protesting to join.

Currently the protests are against Trump’s deployment of the Oregon, California, and Texas National Guard to Portland because it is not now nor has it been needed since the protests have been largely non-violent expect for ICE police/agents attacking the protesters.

Trump’s flagrant abuse of the legal system the past few days are exacerbating the issue and will likely accelerate the protests.
That you do not know the facts regarding these protests is no surprise since you do not live in Portland, OR  because if you did as I do, you would know that Portland is not “burning to the ground” as Trump claims nor is it a “war zone.”

If instead of joining with the protesters, I were to interview protesters at Portland ICE headquarters, I would likely be fine except for the ICE police coming after me. First of all, I would not be accompanied with group of men dressed in black, a uniform often associated with extremist and far-right groups, including some considered neo-Nazis.

JD Delay said these protesters should be in prison. LOL! He knows something about who should be prison since he spent 20 years incarcerated, about half his life.

Yes, so he knows how to identify a group of criminals. He took security because he knows leftists have low impulse control and can't stand hearing opinions other than their own.
The uniform of your beloved antifa is all black, are you saying antifa is neo-nazis?

What do you consider to be "far right"?

It is difficult for me to define what I consider to be far-right because like most ideologies it is heterogeneous.

What I generally think of as far-right is a minority group of people who identify as being ultraconservative having extreme views politically and otherwise which they frequently and hostilely express. These are folks who condone violence to achieve political goals. They tend to be conspiracists with a focus on liberals or leftists. An example would be the folks who believed Pizzagate was real.

Sounds a bit circular, but can you point me to anything in the Republican Party platform, or any kind of conservative doctrine, that supports this?

Supports what you said:

Remember that you originally asked me this:

What do you consider to be "far right"?

Had you asked me about the far left my answer would have been the same because political extremists are more prone to violence and susceptible to belief in conspiracy theories, IMO.

Here are some examples of studies which I believe support my opinion that the real issue is extremism and how it affects people's behavior. Neither the far-left nor far-right have a lock on extremism.

Far-left versus Far-right Fatal Violence: An Empirical Assessment of the Prevalence of Ideologically Motivated Homicides in the United States

https://ccjls.scholasticahq.com/article/26973-far-left-versus-far-right-fatal-violence-an-empirical-assessment-of-the-prevalence-of-ideologically-motivated-homicides-in-the-united-states

Left-Wing Terrorism and Political Violence in the United States: What the Data Tells Us

https://www.csis.org/analysis/left-wing-terrorism-and-political-violence-united-states-what-data-tells-us

Voters on the extreme left and right are far more likely to believe in conspiracy theories

As might be expected, the political left tends to be suspicious of the political right, and the political right tends to be suspicious of the political left.

Evidently, political extremism and conspiracy beliefs are rooted in the same rigid style of thinking.

Our findings establish a link between political extremism and a general susceptibility to conspiracy beliefs.

Definition of extremism

Key characteristics of extremism:

Extreme views: Holding views considered unreasonable, hateful, dangerous, or far outside the acceptable range of attitudes in a given society.
Intolerance: Displaying an unwillingness to compromise or tolerate opposing viewpoints.
Dehumanization: Viewing other people as fundamentally different or inferior, often seen as a threat or an obstacle to their goals.
Use of violence or hate: Employing hate, fear, or violence to control and influence others or to achieve ideological aims.
Opposition to democratic values: Challenging or seeking to overthrow democratic principles, individual liberties, and the rule of law.

Sadly, I frequently see examples of extremism in internet social forums, including on Getbig and as reported in the news media.
