Rude had an awesome career that was cut short.   His biggest mistake was cashing in that Lloyds of London policy when he got hurt.  It was about $400K I believe is what was reported.  And then he had to cease being a wrestler and/or participating in any active story lines FOREVER.  He grabbed the cash and then a couple years later he saw the huge contracts that wrestlers were getting in WCW and wanted in on it.  He was medically cleared to return but unless he paid back every penny to Lloyds he couldn't do so.  He asked Eric Bischoff to pay the money back and Eric wouldn't. 

The smart move would have been after being injured to take a commentary role that was offered to him for $75K, until he was able to recover and be cleared to wrestle again.  But he thought it was below him. 

He and Jake the Snake were the best heels ever in their prime.
