That sucks, I almost always feel bad when someone dies from a simple accident like a fall. It reminds you how fragile everything can be.

RIP.

Saw Kiss in concert at Tiger Stadium in 95 or 96. Alice in Chains was the opening act. The following weekend went to a Smashing Pumpkins concert. Billy Corgan said he'd try to play as well as "Ace Frehley and his smoking guitar"

Back in the New York Grove has always been on my gym playlist.

With his lifestyle 74 actually is surpisingly old.
Frehley has really messed up his life. His addiction was more important to him than being a member of insanely succesful KISS. His behaviour forced the other members to kick him out. A bit similar to Randy Meisner, another tragic story of self destruction.

There are these jackets that have build-in "airbags". Whenever a fall is detected at certain angles, the airbag deploys and minimises the impact.

The problem is getting older people to wear them...

Wow!  Not my genre of music but they were a HUGE band when I was in middle school and high school.  Many of my friends LOVED them… saw them in concert… and talked about them endlessly.  That’s how I came to know about KISS. At one point they were so popular they had KISS action figures and I think they even had a cartoon about them.  They certainly made their mark!  May he rest in peace.

Yeah, I loved them as a kid before I was even listening to music.

Yes. They were somewhat known more for their marketing and appearance rather than their talent. Aside from the action figures (I think my brother had Paul Stanley and I had Gene Simmons, the were ridiculously muscular.  LOL), and cartoon, they had a made for TV Halloween special it was Kiss and the Haunted Amusement Park or something like that. IIRC the ending relied on Ace Frehley using some kind of cosmic power to move s jail cell key through the air into the cell so they could use it to escape and expose the mystery.

They were "influencers" before that was even a thing!  So many kids in my schools were Kiss fans.  I can recall them coming to school the day after a KISS concert wearing the swag they had purchased there; usually a T shirt or a hat.  At Halloween people dressed up as their favorite Kiss member. Gene Simmons seemed to have the highest profile of the group (was it the tongue?).  Because they were always covered in make up, for years I never knew what they really looked like or how old they were.  Maybe that was the point. 8)

Great cartoon villain laugh, and it annoyed Gene, which is always a plus.

OMG! I think you are right!  They certainly had a good public relations team!  For 10 seconds they were everywhere!

It's sad but I'm more interested in Ace and KISS right now than I am in the Mr. O.  ::)

My father took me and my brother to a Kiss concert when I was about 6. We left after half the set, it was so loud :D Never got into them after that, liked other heavy metal more, like Maiden.
