A step further to your specific example - no prizes where the perps of the biggest cild abuse criminal networks are - so called representatives of god. this isnt the fauklt of faith but the nature of predators finding positions of trust or where threy are shielded. often spruiking aboiut virtue and responsibility all as a cloak as threy commit lieral atrocities. its no accident thry more recentlu started turning up as trans allies andthe like.not all of em are pedo filth but more than a few infiltrate so they have a shield again whilst they perpetrate atrocities.
politics is similar one of the best ways a politician can be a tyrant is to start off offering to be kind and caring and benevolent (with other peoples hard earned money of course) or at least to appear so.
