That video of Benfatto looks like AI.
That said, agree with everyone - the AI video demonstrates a modified Gironda sternum chin-up, but done with an overhand wide "pullup" type of grip.
My opinion: this is the most effective lat exercise we have (the sternum chin-up). Puts the lats at a full stretch with tons of tension to start, and because you change the angle of your torso through the ROM, the lats remain in full tension as take them through their fullest range of motion. No better exercise for the lats comes to mind, to be frank. And it's one of those interesting BW exercises that takes a muscle through it's full ROM, but doesn't really have a machine equivalent (you can't really do these on a lat pulldown machine, for example, without having to really work the lumbar area. And the pullover machine doesn't work as well, because the top of a pullover doesn't pull your humerus and scapula into full protraction to stretch the lats fully).
Just a great exercise.
Anyone who can do these is boss-level strong too. Hard to think "there's a guy who does a bunch of gironda sternum chins, but he's not very strong".
I wish I could - I'm nowhere near strong enough relative to my BW. If I could, I'd do them non-stop just because I could.
