The Supremacy Clause, found in Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution, establishes that the Constitution, federal laws, and treaties are the "supreme Law of the Land" and take precedence over conflicting state laws. This means that when there is
a conflict between a federal law and a state law, the federal law prevails.
Judges in every state are bound by this principle, even if a state's own constitution or laws say otherwise.
