7 seasons, not one bad episode, and fantastic conclusion.

The last 2 minutes of the pilot episode just change what you think the whole show is about.  Insane.

The Shield was great. I think it's not remembered by some because it was an early F/X show. I skipped the original run because I thought "It's network tv, how good could it be?". I only got into it when a local tv channel started running edited for broadcast versions really late at night, and thought it was pretty good in that form, so let's watch the real version.

Also adding Boardwalk Empire to the list of worthy HBO shows too.

Dude you can get HBO max, Netflix, Amazon Prime  and all that fucking shit together with just about every movie ever made, and 5000 TV channels including the full spectrum of porn, though various bootleg IP TV providers for like 150 bux or less a year
